Just upgraded to 5.8.11 and got this message:

25/2/2007 19:44:36|climateprediction.net|[file_xfer] Started download of file sulphur_data_4.22_windows_intelx86.zip
25/2/2007 19:44:47|climateprediction.net|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of sulphur_data_4.22_windows_intelx86.zip: file not found
25/2/2007 19:44:47|climateprediction.net|Backing off 1 hr 54 min 21 sec on download of file sulphur_data_4.22_windows_intelx86.zip

on and on...

Why is it happening? Project was (and still is) supended and not allowed to new tasks...

And let me ask another question:

The WU in CPDN is very large, but there are several reports and credit granting during the processing time of the WU. So, if there is an error, the WU is immediately aborted? Or will it go on despite the error? Will I still get credit for future work on that WU? And what happens with credit already granted?

Ok, stop everything now!

I\'ve just noticed that the majority of my results have crashed!?!?!?! What is this?? Waste os my CPU time?!?!?! Why is that happening??!!?

Is it a problem with me or with the project? Should I expect it to continue to show some crashes in future?

Once you\'ve copied the files, install a fresh copy of Boinc on top of them, and try running it.

Forget it... It has downloaded new files and started them. I give up.

One last question: is there any custom .exe for specífic processors?

I\'ve just copied the old files from the old disk, but nothing happened. Was this expected?

A simpler thing which can cause a similar problem is if the copy was via a CD-R, the \'read-only\' attribute is set. It\'s easy to fix that, browse c:\\program files\\, right-click on \\boinc\\, properties, click the \'read-only\' checkbox twice to make it clear, and then \'OK\'. Select \'change this folder, sub-folders, and files\' so that everything within is changed to allow both read-write.

That one I already knew but it wasn\'t copied from a CD or DVD backup, but from a diferent hard drive.

So \"doc\", will it \"survive\"? Can I hope to get my old files working again or should i give them up and download new ones : (?

If you still have the original around somewhere (on the old disk?) then you can try copying them again.

Yes, I still have the old files...

But copy them with your normal account, ...

What do you mean with \"normal account\"?

...and before you run Boinc, make sure everything allows reading and writing,

You mean by editing the files properties?

... and also reset the owner of the files.

Missed that one too... Can you explain a bit more?

If you want to have a go at that, tell me and I\'ll try to find the instructions for that... (it\'s a bit fiddly and my memory is rubbish :-) ).

I know how this is, but you can bet I will want to try.

If you don\'t have the original then downloading a new model is the best way to go, but I\'d Uninstall boinc first, delete the directory, then reinstall it. You may need to use the administrator account to do the delete.

Well, I have them, but if everything fails, this will be the way out. And I AM the administrator! This sounds good...

There are 26 crashed models. But most of these are old - long before the Core2 was released... (so I guess it\'s an upgrade).

How do you get to know this things??? I feel like i child watching a magician! Or when you go to the doctor and he manages to guess the exact point:
\"Does it hurt when i press here?\"
\"yeeeeEEEESSS!!\"

At what time did the upgrade take place, just before the 29th December by any chance?

Well thats very hard to remember... What I know is that the actual upgrade took place in the early days of December, but i\'ve only restored my old files some days later, when I\'ve managed to get everything running ok.

The model which ran from 31st Oct to 29th Dec crashed with this:

Exit code 0 + BUFFIN: Read Failed: Permission denied
BUFFIN: C I/O Error - Return code = 32
Model crashed: umshell1.f: READDUMP: BAD BUFFIN OF DATA

It looks like something may have gone wrong with the permissions on the files. Do you happen to know if the drive is NTFS, or FAT32, and was it copied from a different drive?

Again: how did you guess that?!?! The old files were in FAT32 and i\'ve copied them into a new drive formatted in NTFS.

So \"doc\", will it \"survive\"? Can I hope to get my old files working again or should i give them up and download new ones : (?

Hi,

Which one is causing the trouble, is it:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=226595? (a lot of crashed results reported).

Yes, that\'s the one...

One of my host seems to be with no problem but stoped working on CPDN. My other projects are running ok, and so do my other host including de CDPN proj.
I just have made a upgrade and reinstalled my system, but i just noticed the problem and i\'m not sure the backuping/reinstalling have anything to do with the problem.
Does anyone have a clue?
P.S. sorry for my english. I\'m from Brazil, so if there are any compatriots out there I would be very happy to be able to solve this IN PORTUGUESE!!!
Thanks!
