1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Global_preferences file (Message 25720)

Thanks,
Apparently, the client has send its result every time I updated the project.
I didn\'t put the trickles in the result in my account and in the messages for about a week.
Now, the client actually mentions the trickles, before it didn\'t.
It seems to have be related to a server update of the account with the trickles.

[quote]I notice that the server hasn\'t heard from your computer since you were sent a model back in May.[quote/]
According to my account info, both results were created in December.

I have read the info. All clear.

Hi,

My account is http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=511140
I changed the global preferences file to force Boinc to recognize the 2 cpu\'s.
The firewall is open to Boinc.exe and Boincmgr.exe.

Still, after work results of 2,67% and 1,06%, I never get the message \"Reason: To send trickle-up message\".
Also in my results, it says \"no trickles\", although it should give me a trickle message about every 5 hours.
Can anyone tell me whether the preferences are wrong ?

Thanks a lot !
I changed my general preferences xml file and it immediately started to download other work.

Thanks, no, I have put the value \"On multiprocessors, use at most\" at 2 on the \"your account\" page and updated the project now more than a dozen times.

I want that second cpu to work on a project but still I get the message
\"Note: not requesting new work or reporting results\".
The 3rd button on the project tabsheet shows \"no new work\" so I guess the client should fetch new work. But if the benchmark only finds one cpu, I guess the client is not going to ask the server for more.

In the 4th line in the messages below it says that the pc has 2 processors (correct) and the benchmarks at the end tells me the PC has only 1 processor.

I updated my general preferences in my account but don\'t know what to further to correct this.

6) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Partial results usefull ? (Message 16144)

I\'ll probably get to phase 3 so I\'ll let it continue.
I\'m sure this explanation is usefull for others with the same question.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
My PC (amd 3200) has about 5,5 hours every day on average to process the sulphur model.
That\'s 500 hours before the enddate 16/2/2006.
The completion time is 1300 hours.

There is perhaps some use from completed phases, but if you cannot finish a model, I would suggest a different project.

Crandles, do you mean uncompleted phases ?

If the deadline isn\'t important I can continue the sulphur model rather then aborting it.
The cpu/memory/hd is very stable.
Sometimes the adsl is being put offline but that is no problem for Boinc.

A newbie question :
If my PC can\'t finish a whole run (1300 hours), are the trickled results still usefull or should I change Boinc to do some other task ?
I\'m sure it is somewhere in the faq\'s and other threads but I didn\'t find a conclusive answer.
