1) Message boards : Number crunching : My workunit server state in \"inactive\" (Message 3898)
Posted 11 Sep 2004 by old_user94
Post:
My PC is working on the result 00ct_000025446_0 using hadsm3 version 4.02.

The machine was shut down for several days. So maybe the server state was set into \"inactive\" by the CPDN, because no trickle information was reportet. Now the PC is running and has send new trickle to CPDN. the state is still \"inactive\". There are now also two trickle reportet (Sep. 11th and Sep. 9th) on different days with the same timestep information. Is it normal?

3) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Ability to delete a not used workunit (Message 2296)

At the installation of CPDN I needed to install the Boinc client a second time. Now I`ve got in my Status Pages two WU marked as \"progressing\" but only the last WU really does something. The deadline for the WU is the Jul 2005. Is the first downloaded WU now blocked by my account until Jul 2005 and will not be send to another user? In my opinion it would be helpfull to mark a no longer used workunit in the user status page. So the WU can be send to a new User. Or/And if no \"trickling information\" will be reported from a WU, the Unit will be send a to new client.

I`m using the System normally for my E-Mail and Office. A important faktor is the cache memory size of the Prozessor. It´s for the all Duron the same (256kb). Perhaps the quality of the normal mainboard RAM (Kingston 256 MB CL2)? The quality of the mainboard? But I´ve got a cheap ECS L7S7A2.

Also i think it´s not so much difference between 5.1 and 5.0 s/TS.

Also in my model 00ct_000025446_0 strange white Spots in hot areas like Africa or India. Maybe also "out of bounds" temperatue-areas.
8) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc Client as Windows Service (Message 183)
Posted 6 Aug 2004 by old_user94
Post:
When will the Client be able to start as an Windows Service. The WU need a long time for completion. So a Service will be helpfull, because most of the Systems are Servers. I dont want to run such a System with an locked user account. There is an solution to compile the Client by myself. But the handling of such a Client is not very comfortable.
