1) Questions and Answers : Windows : I\'m not getting any new WU\'s (Message 31553)

Post:

If you set \"No new tasks\" for climateprediction along with all of the other projects, then you should NOT have received any new climate models. The ones that you DID have should have started to run, which was the point of what I posted.

And you should clean up the old models.
Write down the names of the models that you currently have.
Then look at the folders of all the climate models.
Those not on your list can be deleted.

Sorry I misunderstood your post Les.
Now I assume it\'s too late to do anything except run the 2 new ones I recieved, since suspending them and selecting \"No new tasks\" will shut down the whole thing right?

I did find the folders with the new WU\'s names on them along with several others. Would I just need to delete the entire folder for each of the other models? What about all the other files I found that are not the new WU\'s? There seems to be a whole lot of them scattered around within the projects folder labled climateprediction.net (D:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\projects\\climateprediction.net)

In that folder, there is a total of 7 folders, 2 of which are the new WU\'s and 4 others plus a folder labled txf (which is fonts) and 62 other files with various extensions such as xml, gz, png, zip, and exe. as well as a few files with no extensions. I understand most of those are for the program to run so I should just leave those as is and just delete the 4 folders not related to the 2 new tasks correct?

Thank you again, -=Guy=-

Post:

If the stored data is from old models, either finished or failed, they can be deleted.
The original slab models kept data for future use, and failed models don\'t get to the clean up part of the program.

As you\'re running a lot of projects, it\'s possible that BOINC is in \'pay back\' mode as far as the climate models are concerned. You can check this by setting all projects to No new tasks in the Projects tab, and then suspending all models/WUs other than climate models, in the Tasks tab. One of the climate models should then start running.

Thanks Les,
I did what you suggested and 2 CPDN WU\'s then downloaded and started running. (my computer runs WU\'s from 2 projects at the same time) After they downloaded, I then went back to my normal settings and I now have the following in my BOINC manager tasks window:

1 project ready to report,
2 projects running,
4 projects waiting to run,
4 projects waiting to start (2 of which are CPDN)

Now do I need to \"clean up\" the old CPDN tasks? Or just leave it as is? How do I find the old ones and delete them, and leave the new ones intact? I have almost 600 gigs of HDD space so it\'s not really a space issue but if they are not needed.....
Thanx again for your quick response, it\'s much apprieciated. -=Guy=-

I\'m not getting any new CPDN WU\'s and the ones I DO have on my computer are not running. I currently have almost 2 gigs of CPDN work stored on my computer and it\'s not doing anything. This has been the status for about the last month. I have \"updated\" CPDN several times and get the following response:

12/1/2007 12:01:36 AM|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
12/1/2007 12:01:42 AM|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks

I checked the server status and it shows all services are running normally (green). Can anybody explain to me what is happening? I am currently running 12 total projects and almost all of them are running normally (Predictor@Home has also stalled, but according to their website the project is not sending any new work)
If anybody can help me with this, I\'d sure apprieciate it. -=Guy=-

I just wanted to post and let you know I thank you for your reply to my question. I have ran ScanDisk with no errors, I have installed and ran SuperPI's 32M test and it ran off in about 2 1/2 hours with no errors. I have also used Norton's Works Suite 2005 tools to clean out my files and run diagnostics with no errors. (other than a few temp files needed deleting) I also use Cox Communication's (my ISP) Security Suite which includes Spyware,Adware and Virus Scan. I use ALWIL Softwares Avast! Home Version 4.6 anti virus as well as Spybot S&amp;D. I installed PanteraSofts Hard Drive Monitoring program (HDD Health ver. 2.1 BETA) It showed me that my Hard drives are running a little on the hot side (Temp) and I will be taking steps soon to correct that. My System is not altered in any way with the exception of having 2 larger HDD's installed. My processor is stock and is not overclocked in any way. When I run benchmark tests my processer usually exceeds it's stated performace values. I have also used PC Pitstops full test suite with no problems and always score above average for my processor/system class with no real errors (all checkered flags) MY home voltage is usually on the high side of the standard.(usually in the 123 to 127 VAC range - so no undervoltage issues) I run regular system maintenence on almost a daily basis (defrag, virus scan, clearing caches and temp files, spyware scans, etc.) I'm still stumped as to why I cannot run Climate Prediction when I can run just any thing else I throw at it. Can you explain to me what your post meant in a little more detail please? Are those the results of my account/host??

Looks like a large number of "-5" errors as listed on this page, with less than a minute CPU time for each result that errored out.

I will run some more of the tests your link offers in the near future and let you know what I find out. Thank You once again for taking the time to try to help me solve this problem I'm having. At this point I'm about ready to just uninstall CP and give up....

P.S. Oh yeah I almost forgot that in order to even get CP to run (load and attempt to run I mean) at this point is to shut the other BOINC projects down and force it to run.

Hello,
I am having issues where my BOINC will start running my Climate Prediction model, but nothing happens. The time to completion clock does not count down like it does with my other BOINC projects: (SETI,Einstein,LHC,Protein Predictor,and BURP) The CP graphic/screensaver is just a black blank box for a long time and then eventually it will show the spinning globe in the graphics box, but it says "model hasn't started. Please wait..." CPU Time 0000:00:00 (0.00 s/TS)
In my BOINC Manager, for Climate Predictor for application I have hadsm3 4.13, model name is 2heu_000137051_0 And I show 112.01 Mb of work on my hard drive, I have 385:27:47 time to completion, but my CPU time is --- and my progress shows 0.00% My report deadline is 07/30/2006 12:32:54 and it says it's "running". I have it set to run for 2 hours at a time in my prefs and at the end of the two hours nothing has changed. I am not having any problems running any of the other Boinc projects. I understand a CP model takes a long time to run but I really don't think my model actually is starting at all. I have even tried suspending all the other BOINC projects for a while with the same results.
I am running BOINC version 4.44 on a 1 year old eMachines T2825 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+ 2.09 GHz, with 448MB (512MB)of RAM Using Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Ver. 2002 with Service Pack 2 installed as OS With 2 120 Gig HDDs
Can anybody offer me any help???
Thank you in advance, -=LadyzGuy=-

P.S. I have edited this post to say an error message just popped up on my screen a few ago, something about "Visual Fortran Run-Time Error" I have a screenshot but don't know how to include it here... If anybody is interested in seeing it let me know and I will e-mail it to you (unless somebody can explain how to add it here)

&gt; well looks like I still haven't got it figured out.... My text is there but my
&gt; stats counter doesn't show up for some reason. I am using the all-in-one BOINC
&gt; stats url/ from Mundayweb.com and I have had no trouble using it on the other
&gt; project's boards... just this one. Can somebody help me edit my SIG so I can
&gt; get my graphics to also show here too please??? Thanx for any help
&gt; -=LadyzGuy=-
&gt;
&gt; one graphics url I've tried using is
&gt; this&gt;&gt;&gt;http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=2294&amp;trans=off
&gt;
&gt; I have also tried this one&gt;&gt;&gt;<img border="0"> src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=2294&amp;trans=off" /&gt;
&gt;
&gt; and this
&gt; one&gt;&gt;&gt;
&gt;
&gt; Maybe I'll get lucky and one of these will work when I post this so I can see
&gt; if theres another problem with my sig (like being too long although I did
&gt; count charactors and should have been under 254)

&gt; <img border="0">
&gt;COOL!!! Looks like I figured it out all on my own!!! I'm gonna say it was because my SIG was too long since I reduced the number of charactors by quite a bit and now it's working.....Now if I can just get my Avatar to upload I'd be set....

10) Questions and Answers : Preferences : NO WU SENT - Reached daily quota (Message 15002)

&gt; LadyzGuy
&gt; There's no point in comparing this project with the others. Several hundred
&gt; hours is normal. And an almost completed model takes up about 700M, which gets
&gt; compressed a bit on completion.
&gt; Creating a 3D model of the Earth's atmosphere at half hour intervals for 3
&gt; fifteen year periods takes time.
&gt;
&gt; "Reached daily quota of 1 results" is to put the brakes on unattended
&gt; computers which crash a model and then download another parameter set. And
&gt; again, and again, etc.
&gt; It's a good indication that there is a problem with your computer.
&gt; The modeling is very maths intensive, so the cpu gets hot.
&gt; Read <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2126">
&gt; this</a> and <a> href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2124"&gt; this</a>
&gt; for advice.
&gt;
&gt; If you are using BOINC 4.45, you may have another problem, which has been
&gt; mentioned before.
&gt; If you copy some of the error messages from before the ones you have listed,
&gt; and post them here, more specific advice can be given.
&gt;
&gt;
&gt;Thank you for your tips... As far as error messages that is the only one I have gotten so far:

8/8/2005 2:54:35 PM|climateprediction.net|Message from server: No work sent
8/8/2005 2:54:35 PM|climateprediction.net|Message from server: (reached daily quota of 1 results)
8/8/2005 2:54:35 PM|climateprediction.net|No work from project
8/8/2005 2:54:35 PM|climateprediction.net|Deferring communication with project for 4 hours, 51 minutes, and 10 seconds

(the only real changes are the amount of time communication is deferred)

I will run some of the tests mentioned. I have downloaded the HDD monitor and so far have found that my HDD's ARE running a little hot so it's probably safe to assume everything else is too. I'm gonna work on bringing the temps in the case down a little and see if that helps. I ran a few of the other tests such as the Super_PI (32M) for a little while and while not running a full test of course, (I will be doing that later tonight) It did seem to run fine. Currently I am running BOINC ver. 4.44 and it seems stable (no crashes of any kind) My system is fairly new and performs pretty much flawlessly on anything I've thrown at it so far but it is possible I may be reaching it's limits I suppose. I do tend to multitask quite a bit instead of running processes seperately. I'll let you know if I find out anything. At least you've given me something to start looking at and I thank you. -=LadyzGuy=-

I am getting the same error as you are Ananas, I have tried 3 different sized Avatars with the same results... I used an 80X80 .jpg and also a 115X155 .jpg and finally a 120X120 .jpg all with the same error message you posted. Is there a solution to correct this and add an Avatar? If I understand your post correctly the command string needs a "required_once" in it somewhere but I don't know where or how to add it. Can somebody help please??

I have tried updating the WU as well as resetting it with the same results. I am currently running 4 other BOINC projects at the same time on the same computer with no problems. What I notice is that the climateprediction WU's have a rediculously long time to finish, something on the order of several hundred hours (usually in the 800+ range) when all of the other four are usually less than 10 hours (usually in the 4 hour range) I show that I have 38.25 megs of work in my climate prediction WU which is double that of any other WU on the other projects: (Eienstein@home 19.66 MB, SETI@home 3.54 MB, LHC@home 9.31 MB, and ProteinPredictor@home 3.54 MB) Can anybody offer a suggestion as to what is going on with my climate prediction WU's? Thanx in advance, -=LadyzGuy=-
