I just Suspended the Project about 3 days ago until they get it straightened out. I started running a few of the other Projects in the mean time. It looks like LHC is finally giving out some WU's this morning again ... :)

It looks like theres a problem with the Total Credit now, my Stats haven't moved in the last 24 hours and I don't show any new Trickles turned in since about 10:30 AM yesterday even though I know I've turned in about 30-35 of them ... :?

I looked at a few other peoples Accounts & they show the same thing, no trickles turned in since yesterday so it must be a server problem ...

Hmmmm..all looks complicated and risky. Just hope the laptop does not give up too soon! Thanks guys for coming back.
==========

It may not be all that hard to do if you want to take the chance. All though I've never tried to move a CPDN WU to another Computer I have moved LHC WU's many times with success & it's really a very simple procedure.

The following is the procedure I have used to move LHC WU's many times to another Computer...

1. Suspend all Projects in the Directory the CPDN WU or WU's are in now ...

2. Copy the entire Directory to the Computer you want the CPDN WU or WU's on ...

3. Start up the BOINC Client and just Un-Suspend the CPDN Project (or all Projects in that Directory if your going to be running them on that Computer) ...

4. If this works for the CPDN WU or WU's all it will do is create another Host ID in your Account and your off and running ...

Now just leave the original Directory on the original Computer the CPDN WU or WU's came from alone until the CPDN WU or WU's are finished on the Computer you moved them to. You can Un-Suspend any other Projects and continue to run them on the that computer though, just leave them suspended on the Computer you Copied the Directory to ...

Or you can take the chance and just delete the original Directory (which I've done with success) from the original Computer. Don't Detach or Reset because I think this will send a signal to the Server that your not running the WU's any more ...

PS: I've seen a post (but I can't find it now) some where here about just copying the entire Directory to another computer by one of the Dev's I think, so this must work or they wouldn't be giving that advice out I would think ...

I've been running three computers, which had been giving me a daily average of over 850 credits per day.
In the last, approximately two weeks, I've been suddenly running in the 284 daily credit range.
===========

Same thing with me, I was running in the 3400 - 3500 Credits Per Day range but in the last 2 days I've dropped to less than 2000 Credits per day even though my PC's are still working away 24-7 on CPDN WU's ...

Sorry to say I'm going to either Detach & Re-Attach or Reset the CPDN Project on all my Computers. My Computer list in my Account is totally screwed up to where I don't even know what Computers is what & Trickles from several Computer are being assigned to other Computers is the reason why.

The Server says I have 11 Computers when in fact I only have 7 Attached to the Project. But 7 of the Computers that show in my Account are no longer valid hosts because of upgrades & I'm unable to merge them with the correct host.

Also 3 Computers that are Attached to the Project don't even show up in my Account. Of those 3 one of them has never received any Credit, no where can I find the 2 WU's it's working on even though it has 250 hr's of work done already on them.

The other 2 have never received any Credit for 1 of the 2 WU's they are each working on with close to 200 hr's already. I've been keeping track of the Trickles turned in by me and those 4 WU's have never reported 1 time in the last 2 days so I'm assuming I'm getting no Credit for them then ...

I did that over at the Seti Site Finla, somebody joined our Team that nobody wanted on it & I had to create a couple of different Teams and changed the Name of the Original Team to something else.

Once the person agreed to quit trying to be on the Team everybody went back to the original team & I changed the Team name back to the original name & all our credits were still there.

Of course we lost a few credits jumping around to the different teams I made...

Post:
I've turned in 6-10 Trickles since the Oct 6'th but only 1 of them actually is Credited to my Account, I've tried resetting the Project & getting new WU's with the same results.

As far as I know this is occurring on 3 of my Computers, they contact the Server with the Trickle & the BOINC GUI Shows the contact was a success but when I check my Account theres no credit or trickle added to the computer that reported the Trickle...

Hopefully I'll hear something on this today or I'm just going to Detach all my Computers from the Project, because I have no idea where these trickles are going and I see no point in continuing to crunch the WU's as long as this is happening...

PS: This is real weird, I just checked my account again and most of the missing Trickles showed up all of a sudden, I'm still missing some of them but it may be due to the Server or something else. I'll have to wait and see if the rest show up I guess...

Well this is just Freaking Great, 3 days after I ask for help on this PC & Work Units it was running I get this E-Mail from CPDN....
==========

Hello,

Forgive the email, but we have discovered that a batch of work units sent
out at the start of the CPDN/BOINC launch has an error in their configuration
that would prevent a file getting uploaded at the end of a run. If your machine(s)
listed below is still running the listed result, please do the following
to correct this problem.

1) stop the BOINC client on the machine
2) copy "client_state.xml" file in the BOINC directory to "client_state.bak",
just to have a backup in case the editing in 3) goes wrong
3) open the "client_state.xml" file in the BOINC directory in the text editor of your choice
4) search for "_1.zip" in this file
5) two lines down from this you should see a line starting with ""
6) change the value after "" from 1 to 5 (so it will be 5000000)
7) Important: do not edit any lines that are between (or just after)
a line beginning with ""
8) Repeat if you have other results affected on this machine from the list
below, bearing in mind you should not change a "" line that is
located between lined with "" and "" tags

There is also an online reference on the User Discussion page at:
http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?p=20943#20943

We do apologize for the trouble. It is not a "critical error" that would
prevent your run from completing, so if you have any apprehension about
editing this file, that is OK (it's just that the *_1.zip file will not be
sent, but other files will be).

This only effects a small number of work units that were sent out around the
time of the CPDN/BOINC launch on 26 August '04, and the machines and result
names are located below.

Sincerely,

Carl Christensen

Well you can kiss that Work Unit "ResultName=01re_100027267_1" and another one that is Result ID 11766 on Host 40220 Goodbye because when I got no response from my plea for help I shit canned them both off my Hard Drive already by resetting the Project because they where taking up to much hard drive space and I figured they where lost...1100 hr's of cpu processing out the window...

The machine=home-ltrrfbdcq8 is not processing that work unit either, if fact it is not even a host of mine anymore and if at all possible would somebody take it off my Account...What happened was that PC was on order and the place that I ordered from started running that WU to see if it would take the stress. Well it wouldn't so we changed everything around on it hardware wise and it was assigned another Host ID which I have in my possession now and running WU's with it...

Ok, that seemed to work Thyme, I tried the URL without the / and now it switched to the Seti WU's and started running them. Funny though my other PC's worked with the / included with no problems.

There still seems to be a problem with the PC though but I'm just goung to leave it run for now and see what happens. I still may need to do a complete un-install of BOINC & re-install it fresh but I'll wait and see if it screws up again...Thanks

Ok, might as well give it a shot, the work from CPDN may be lost anyway as I've started 2 new work units on that computer and I might as well try and get it straightened out before I get to much time in them if it's going to screw up again...

Carl, can you check this Work Unit for me...Result 11766 & Work Unit 11766...

Something Goofy has been going on with the PC that ran it ever since yesterday when I Re-Attached to Seti. #1 It won't run Seti & CPDN together, when I Attach to Seti BOINC either locks up or just won't start at all or if it does run all it will do is run the CPDN WU & never switch to the Seti WU.

I installed v4.08 at Rom Waltons request to see if that straightened it out but it was to no avail...It still screwed up I guess...There doesn't seem to be anything else wrong with the Computer as everything else seems to run ok, it's just with BOINC for some reason now...

That work unit should be finished but it's not showing that in my account. In fact the Work Unit still shows up in my projects folder for BOINC.

I had the computer disabled from network access overnight & when I reconnected this morning the 4 WU's that were showing in my BOINC GUI were wiped out, including the finished on & one that had over 500 hr's on it and was going to finish in about 3 days...Nothing showed up in the stderr.txt or stderr.old

I've copied the entire BOINC folder to another Computer because I want to try a few things to see if I can get the WU with over 500 hr's on it to show back up. It's still sitting in the BOINC Projects folder along with the Finished one but neither 1 is showing in the BOINC GUI...

Here's a readout from the stdout.old files after reconnecting this morning...
