1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Severe graphics corruption with climatepredication and latest ATI drivers (Message 15434)

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen my problem:

I installed the latest Catalyst drivers (5.8) for my ATI board (X800 XT PE) and I have found that whenever BOINC runs CP (I participate in multiple BOINC projects) I get severe graphics corruption on my main monitor (I have dual monitors connected) after CP runs in the GUI screen saver after a few minutes.

The graphics corruption is so bad, I have to reboot, which is pretty tricky because the desktop is so garbled, so I have to shut down practically \"blind\"

I haven\'t seen this problem with previous Catalyst versions for my board.

BOINC says I have \"hadsm3.4.13\" for my CP version.

If it matters, the two work units I have are 16bf_200075414_1 and 17ev_200076847_1

I managed to get a screen capture of a fortan error before the dialog vanished...

Is this a known problem? Do I need to report this somewhere else?

FYI, I am running F-Prot antivirus, and I suppose there is a small probability that the real-time virus monitor is interferring with file I/O operations (I have seen this with MailWasherPro and F-prot). Has anyone else noticed such a problem between climateprediction and F-prot AV?

As a follow-up, I just installed BOINC 4.12 and it *seems* to be behaving OK now...

Just wanted to report that I have been having problems with BOINC 4.09 on Windows XP Home SP 2.

After installing the client, I noticed some really strange behaviour in conjunction with climateprediction.net.

The screen saver would be all black, or the globe would disappear and reapper, and flicker between colored and all white.

Plus if I ran the BOINC in foreground mode (I usually run it as a screen saver), it would hang and use 50% CPU while hadsm***.exe or whatever would use 50% CPU as well. I poked around and found that while this was going on, BOINC was apparently in an infinite loop that constantly was rewriting client_state.xml

I finally gave up on it and reverted to BOINC 4.05 and it seems to be behaving now.

Unfortunately, through all of this trouble shooting, I ended up reseting my work for climateprediction and lost 128 hours of work. :(

In case it matters, I\'m running a P4 HT 3GHz with 1GB RAM with a Radeon 9800 Pro video card.
