Ok. So do I just ditch the current model and start something else? Preferably something that doesn\'t take ages to finish, because I don\'t use the computer that much these days... Juuso |

Posted 10 Oct 2006 by old_user83044 Post: Use Windows\' facility to uninstall boinc 4.19 first, else you\'ll have a mess on your hands. (Once you get to 5.x.x, it\'s not necessary to uninstall prior to future upgrades [unless the rules change again].) Will I lose the unfinished work unit? I have 20.5% done of \"sulphur_cycle 4.22\". Or can I somehow save the work and continue it with version 5.6? Or should I just start from scratch? Thanks. Juuso |

Turning off the computer

Posted 16 Jun 2005 by old_user83044 Post: I read from http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/quick_faq.php that you are supposed to exit Boinc before shutting down windows. I once used a script to make a backup of my files before shutting down the computer. I placed a shortcut to this script to the start menu and used it every time I wanted to power off (instead of using the normal \"turn off computer\" link). I was wondering if a similar script could be used with Boinc? Perhaps someone who knows the command line parameters could make a script which first closes Boinc properly and then closes Windows.
