Might I suggest this <a href="http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php">LINK.<a>

It has been a god send keeping my HT CPU's from overheating. I do a manual over ride and have the fans cranking at 100%. The increased power consumption is negligable.

I had to detach from project because an Ice Ball screwed up Terminal.

Now it's going ape shit, RAC that is. Mine took a dump and is slowly recovering and another team member has doubled his RAC. It appears to be some sort of demented crap shoot. Fuzzy Logic anyone?

Yeah, right....this is the RAC for an Apple G5 2.5 Power Mac!

This user is getting disillusioned, fast. I'll stick with it for a time, but I must consider greener pastures. Getting credit like I was using a 486 is not my idea of recognition. Not to mention that my 3.4, 3,2, 2.8G HT's and 2.2 P4 have taken another 30% hit in RAC in the last 24 hours; that's after getting halved from before, i.e. going from 1445 to 716 something. Am I missing something? i can't see having to throw out another ICE BALL having anything to do with it. (That was one the 2.8G HT got)

My same host below has done over 1700 crdits in 72 hours and has still got ZERO Rac.

The trickles are beening show as returned but are not being tabluated, Also my team page only shows 4 hosts rather than 5 which is the correct number.

Edit: Also my RAC has gone from 1445 down to 716 in a flash! yet all my hosts have remained on line and are returning work. Something is really screwed up royal at CPDN.

&gt; &gt; I also noticed my cpu temperature is higher with CPDN than with other
&gt; boinc
&gt; &gt; projects.
&gt;
&gt; Yes. CPDN is a very demanding application, and there is advice <a> href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=23"&gt;here</a>
&gt; especially in the hardware maintenance announcement. The power supply and
&gt; cooling on some machines is simply not up to the job, and dust etc makes
&gt; things much worse.
&gt;
CPDN really gives the CPU a work out. My 3.4 is liquid cooled so no problem, but the 3.2G HT P-IV and 2.8G HT P-IV use heat sinks. I have had to manually set the fan speeds to max just to keep the CPU at below 51c on the 3.2 and below 49c on the 2.8. Good housekeeping is also essential. I clean everything out about every month or so. I don't bother to overclock because of all the attendant headaches that go along with it.

On the plus side, I haven't had to use the centeral room heating at all so far this year. I just run the fan and let the computers provide all the heat. :-)

I attached to LHC this morning @20%. Every thing seemed OK. When I got back this evening, all the LHC WU's were gone and in their place were about 50 CPDN WU's and everything was suspended. Christ, what the hell is going on? I have cc 4.09 on this 3.2G HT box. I'm getting gun shy trying to attach to more than one project. The projects page had TWO CPDN projects listed at 50% each! After detaching from the second CPDN project, everything cleared up.

This is the third time this has happened. When I have the client suspended and reboot my computer (3.4G HT XP) the current WU's are lost and I get two new WU's and start crunching from scratch. Anyone else experience this?
