Posted 9 Jul 2015 by Koichi Yasutani Post: I see in Server Status that many are for Windows only. The one I have right now and is running is "UK Met Office HadAM3P-HadRM3P Australia New Zealand." I'll just leave as is (now 8.62% done). This must be pretty extensive analyses, it seems. It came with slightly <160 hours of remaining time. As for "Future weather applications to only run on a single operating system," I can understand. It's a sort of dilemma for them to produce the same set of software to different OSes whereas they probably feel could utilize the resource on something else. And, yes, I remember seeing slightly different figures between Windows and Mac OSes, though very minute. Maybe the way they round-up or down numbers are different, but not sure. I'm just wondering, since I can run the Windows off of VMWare Fusion, maybe I can also run Windows version simultaneously. I have W2K, XPs (2) and Vista, all except one XP version being English, the rest is in Japanese. Will it run, or has anyone tried? |

Posted 9 Jul 2015 by Koichi Yasutani Post: Hi Les, thank you for the expeditious response. The original message was sent as a response to: Message 52068 re: Notice from Server: "climateprediction.net: Notice from Server UK Met Office HadCM3 short is not available for Mac OS X Intel" "climateprediction.net: Notice from Server UK Met Office HadAM3P-HadRM3P Pacific North West is not available for Mac OS X Intel" "climateprediction.net: Notice from Server UK Met Office HadAM3P and HadRM3P model with MOSES II and TRIFFID Europe is not available for Mac OS X Intel" So far, I have received these messages 3 times each. What do they suggest? Is there a point to keep going on with the program calculation? If there is nothing to worry about, I will continue. Thank you again. |

Posted 9 Jul 2015 by Koichi Yasutani Post: Hello, my first post here. I just joined BOINC through ClimatePrediction.net last night and I have received the same messages 3 times since the inception of data analyses / calculations. What I want to know is whether it is worth proceeding or not. So, if anyone is familiar with this issue(s), please let me know. FWIW, I have Mac Pro (2008 8-core, 16GB RAM, Mac OS 10.9.5 Maverick, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB). The video card might be antiquated and saw the message "not to upgrade to CUDA 6.5," and I don't know what CUDA 6.5 is. Thank you. |
