1) Message boards : Number crunching : System clock adjustments - problematic? (Message 14592)
Posted 22 Jul 2005 by old_user70741
Post:
Just reproduced "exited with zero status but no 'finished' file" while running only CPDN and Crash.

Running 4.45 on XP with SP2.

I had set the system clock back 5 minutes, left it alone for about 10 minutes then updated the clock via the web.

The strange thing is, that I had earlier tried the same while setting the system clock forward 5 minutes, but could not reproduce this then.

Last night I also reproduced this with LHC. But comp has been rebooted since - so logs lost.

Over to those much better qualified than me.

It may not be the only reason that "exited with zero status but no 'finished' file" happens but it certainly is starting to look like a good proportion.

Well spotted Tigher.

Just checked my account and credits have now taken a big leap.

Don't know if it's the same for everyone or if they have just started to come through. Best check your account. If your credits have not been assigned then please be patient just a bit longer.

(edit) Also see the news release from last Friday. It is going to take time to recalculate a months worth of credits for everyons.(End edit)

3) Message boards : Number crunching : Upgrading to BOINC 4.45 (Message 13847)

> Will it reset my results if I upgrade to a different version of BOINC?

No - All your projects should just carry on as if nothing had happened. BUT do it this way.

Suspend all current work.
Suspend all projects.
Exit BOINC manager.

Make a back up of the BOINC folder.

If upgrading from a 4.19 or less then you must uninstall the BOINC Core Client.

If upgrading from greater than 4.19 then there should be no need to uninstall, the new client will overwrite the old one.

Download the new client.

Install the new client.

A version change will be detected and the BOINC manager will perform benchmark tests.

Resume all projects and work - and away it should go.

Check your stats site!!!!
6) Message boards : Number crunching : Backing up data?? (Message 11958)

Hi - Thanks for the advice. Backing up the whole BOINC directory definately seems the easiest option. I have read a lot of the forums but sometimes there seems to be conflicting info and trying to sift it all takes a long time due to all the experience and knowledge you all have.

Many thanks.

Hi all - This has probably been asked before - sorry.

Just about to reach my first trickle point and want to protect all crunched data. Exactly what files do I need to back up please. Any help appreciated.
