Apparently adding a signature does not get it applied to previous posts on the site.

Update: I guess the signature came through. Still an error on the avatar.

I tried going into the message board preferences to add an avatar icon (100x100 pixels, jpeg or png, at or less than 4kb), as well as adding a short signature to my posts. I did this to try to differentiate me with other users posting their problems in threads I create for issues I am having. This doesn't seem to work.

It doesn't add a signature at all (from what I can tell), and when I try to upload an avatar, it produced an error message. This is the error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function gd_info() in /home/boinc/cpdnboinc/html/inc/image.inc:23 Stack trace: #0 /home/boinc/cpdnboinc/html/user/edit_forum_preferences_action.php(100): intelligently_scale_image('/tmp/phpPURcps', 100, 100) #1 {main} thrown in /home/boinc/cpdnboinc/html/inc/image.inc on line 23

Also, the message boards should add a section at the problem for people who want to report problem with the website and message boards. True, that won't get a lot of use, but your web manager might find it useful.

Thanks.
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Uploads slow and overtake the system (Message 65918)

Update Note: I have put a restriction of 20kbs in the system for Network Communication, which in turn places a 20kbs max per each reporting task, of which only two tasks try to report at a time on my system.

This seems to have improved things all around. It is now regularly getting tasks reported (albeit a bit slowly), and for the most part is not interfering with other things on my system (although it does occasionally). I can mostly watch videos or streamed tv without too many interruptions, as well as being able to communicate via email, messaging, and social media.

Additionally, on the tech problem solving front, I have noticed when watching both this capped stream of reporting tasks, and the un-capped stream of reporting tasks, that the measured internet throughput on Windows Task Manager was showing much higher pulses coming from BOINC than was being indicated within the BOINC app. So pulses being uploaded at times were many times what was being indicated in BOINC. Maybe that is what is interfering with other things in the system. So maybe a tech person could see if that is configured properly on how it is reporting, and if there is something causing those upload pulses?

Just a thought.

I'm going to try putting a 20kbs limit on things in the options for this computer, and see if that improves things.

Of note, I just added it, and it looks like I have two tasks trying to report at a time, and each is limited to 20kbs each, and not a total of 20kbs. If that info is useful for others who want to try limiting things.

"An SSL peer certificate error is a security issue. It's an absolute blocker. It'll never work. You need to do something about that."

I think that was something someone else brought up. They are asking their own questions over the top of mine.

It still doesn't explain why it seems to override most of everything else on my system, such as download for other uses (stream tv for example).

I have 3GB (I assume the other user meant GB not TB) waiting, related to about 15 tasks. Occasionally things work, but not often.

Having just tried to make an event log for you, all 6 of my computers are now uploading ok. Seems things are fixed. You're not the only project, I'm having trouble communicating with DENIS and WCG aswell.

I noticed no internet slowdown though, despite only having a connection 1.5 times faster than the other user.

I guess I did mean GB. Sorry brain not working late at night.

Just looking at what I have to upload, it is 3.4 terabytes of data on the small side (and growing constantly). Is that really what is expected when doing these projects? I thought these projects focused more on using our computers for data crunching, and less about sending large files over the internet. Can you clarify? Is this typical?

I have roughly 40 files to upload to the project at the moment, and they are 86 mb each. The problem I am seeing is that they download really slowly, at like 50 kbs maximum (2 at a time), and somehow that seems to overload all other uses of my internet. That doesn't make sense, as on Speedtest.net, my standard and consistent upload speed is 600 kbs.

So...
1. Is this a normal upload speed for this project, or will it be able to receive uploads at a higher speed soon?
2. Why does this seem to restrict any other uses of my internet, when it is only using less that a 1/10 of what I can upload things at?
3. ESPECIALLY, why does this seem to cause problems for using my internet to download things, such as streaming shows and music?? I do not have this problem with any other BOINC projects uploading or downloading their data. Do they have something misconfigured with their project uploads somehow?
4. Someone mentioned Australia/New Zealand. Is that where the servers are located?
5. I have 5 files that say they are at 100%, but just sit in the transfer queue. Why don't those get fully completed, and removed from the queue?

If someone could fix this, or answer my questions, that would be great.
