&gt; <b><i>Maybe FAQ should be updated as per this recent e-mail:</i></b><br>

E-mail didn't come my way. Maybe because I run XP. Thanks for the update.

&gt;You did not mentioned what kind of OS you have.

Both machines run Windows XP SP2. Networked via Netgear router. Laptop wireless, Box with ethernet cable. Infrared is disabled. 1Mb ADSL on router.

SPECS:

Box:
XP PRO SP2
AMD 2500M @ 2230Mhz 202.7Mhz FSB
ABIT KV7 MOBO
1 Gb RAM
400 GB SATA RAID 0
SAPPHIRE RADEON 9800 XT (CATALYST 4.9)

LAPTOP:
XP HOME SP2
MOBILE PENTIUM IV 3.2Ghz HYPERTHREADING
MOBILITY RADEON 9100 IGP
512Mb RAM
60Gb IDE HARD DRIVE

Both stable under Prime95 for 48hrs +
No hardware conflicts.

&gt;for testing, try to disable network access at level boinc client/gui and perhaps
the low running apps regaines up

No difference seen if Boinc netwok access disabled.
Thanks for the sugestion.

From the FAQ

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/quick_faq.php#a

"If you are running Windows 98, ME or Windows NT4:

Stick with classic version, as BOINC cannot yet cope with Windows 98, ME or NT4.
Unfortunately it does not look as if this can be easily solved.
The number of machines involved looks small so it is not considered to be worth the effort.
Sorry folks."

Incredimail is built on Outlook express so that would make sense. WillHill's poker.exe claims to run at normal priority so maybe there is some background process it uses that is being affected. Only happens on my pentium laptop with wi-fi not on my AMD box. Incredimail issue is on both machines.

You could use Motherboard Monitor 5 www.mbm.livewiredev.com to shutdown and restart Boinc GUI at predefined temps. Had this problem with an Advent box with cheap MOBO. Changed to ABIT MOBO and now stable. Try running Prime95 torture test www.mersenne.org to prove if box is stable.

on my overclocked AMD2500M box when I display graphics for current CPDN work unit stars appear in front of the globe and the scrolling title is intermittant. However on my laptop pentium 4 3.2Ghz with hyperthreading I don't have this problem. Is this a problem with my setup or maybe the work unit ?

Box:
AMD 2500 M @ 2000 Mhz 200Mhz fsb
Sapphire 9800xt
Abit KV7 mobo
1Gb ram

Laptop:
Pentium 4 3.2Ghz Hyperthreading
ATI 9100 IGP
512Mb ram

&gt; &gt; Can someone tell me how to put sigs for CPDN and SETI side by side
&gt; please.
&gt;
&gt; Do you mean like mine below, or all in 1 image? If you want them like mine,
&gt; then you need to use multiple IMG tags, one for each image. If you want them
&gt; all in a single image, <A HREF="http://www.boinc.dk">boinc.dk</A> is the only
&gt; site that I know of currently offering it, but it's still in testing phase
&gt; from what I understand.

Thanks for the help I put my user id's into your sig code and the result is below.
