21) Message boards : Number crunching : Upload Failure (Message 44378)

Interesting.

I have one task with uploads of zips 5 through 12 previously pending.
Just a few minutes ago the zip12-file transferred up completely.
So, Zips 5-11 still pending.

Slowly, slowly, we come to terms... :D

Sorry about that but it does happen. There's several posts about a similar occurrence, both on this board, and on our php board.

Yeah, read some posts, but wasn't sure if it would be similar to my problem.

Some of the models seem to rather unstable at the various 25% points of the model. Happening right at the end can be upsetting, but there's not a lot that can be done.

The real upsetting thing is, a I understand it, that these calculations are a precondition for further calculation in further (virtual) years.
Now, if all 5 tasks of this wu are corrupt and no success task available this modell is dying. By the way, as I got the feeling, it was a rather warm task. Lots of deep red spots.

The oddity is, and you may correct me, that if i upload those last four trickles, I may get full points on a corrupt task. Weird. Lol.

Best advice is to unselect these long models from your prefs, and just run the regional models.

I wanted to do that anyway after this task. One successful task of that sort already satisifies me. The only 'must do' thing left for me (for the moment) is to run one of those rather rare regional-SAF-models. Everything after that is optional.

All in all, maybe I find a way to get this task run out normally, must do some thinking over the next week or so.

Greetings.

Error right at the end of big hadcm3n-task.

May you have a look at task resultid=13654142, wuid=7714519. This is one of those long hadcm3n-tasks.

Something really annoying and frightening happend:
The task resulted in an error right at or near the end of it, at just above 99,7%.

The task seem to be running well, in recent weeks I put up trickle after trickle,
graphics showed no blue-globe and everything seem to work well but now right at the end
it resulted in an error.

Using a backup (see below) I even ran the task twice from the 99,5% mark on, both times producing same error.
I am also a little confused, since another of those tasks that I ran lately (resultid=13654159) finished successfully.

The situation before the error:

a) I last sent trickles two days ago (up to trickle #36) at the 90% mark.
I have a backup of the BoincData of that mark (90%).
b) I also have a extra backup at 99,5%.
c) Everything seemed to go well, see above.
d) In boinc manager at that time there were some finished and some intentionally
unstarted tasks of the "constellation"-project, so no other task running at the time.
The CPDN-task was the only task running.

Now at the error mark situation as follows:

e) all four remaining trickles since the 90%-mark are there. (!)
f) BOINC-slot emptied out
g) Big data directory with Data-in and Data-out-directories not there anymore.
h) No big zip file there, in contrast to trickle-files. (!)
i) Noteworthy contents of file client_state.xml:

i1) "fileinfo"-section with latest (fourth) zip file generates "status -161"

<file_info>

Now, can somebody please check my information above and give me a hint what changes to do in order to finish this task properly, using some of my backups? It would be very sad to loose this task at the very end. Thanks in advance!

Three trickles showing up, points are there. I like it.

No need to put on the brakes anymore. Let's drive full speed on then CPDN-autobahn.

Thank you all.
25) Message boards : Number crunching : First trickle lost (Message 43310)

Post:
Hello Team of CPDN.

I have a problem, highly likely on my shoulders:

I am currently running task 13473138 or hadam3p_pnw_2unw_1987_1_007484784_0, a Hadam3p-Pacific-North-West-Task.

I loaded the task roughly 14 days ago and at oct 26th, in the evening hour finally decided to let the task start. The first trickle was expected at about Oct, 27, 4:30 MESZ, that is Oct 26, 2:30 am UTC-time. Of course I was sleeping at that time. I let the internet-connection, via mobil surf stick, closed at that time.
As BOINC-Log-Files tell, the trickle came up at 4:27 MESZ at Oct 27, the ZIP-file was created, both sent thereafter.

As I looked in the morning hours of yesterday, BOINC didn't list the zip file in it's transmission tab anymore and the trickle message didn't show up in the project tab anymore. Eventually, since the internet connection was closed at that time, I was asking myself, where is the trickle, the zip-file? Therefore it seems, that this first trickle simply went lost, went nowhere, somehow got lost in between BOINC, operating system (Windows VISTA) and the network and surf stick drivers.

During further hours, I let the task run: it created a second trickle at about midday UTC-Time and a third trickle late evening UTC-time. Those two trickles should have been transmitted normally, as internet lines were open then, although they do not show up at the respective CPDN-task page.

Then I stopped the task after the third trickle. According to graphics and other observations, the task itself looks good on my computer.

My kind questions now:

1) Is there any way to recreate and retransmit that first trickle and the respective data?
2) Is it correct, that trickles 2 and 3 don't show up at CPDN-task-pages if trickle 1 wasn't transmitted?
3) In general, what should I do to save the task?
Remark: I have a saved copy of the entire BOINC-data-directory before the start of the task and another copy after I stopped the task, both with currently only the one CPDN-task as existing. In the last copy there is a hadam3p_pnw_2unw_1987_1_007484784\dataout directory with a ton of files, perhaps we can work with them?

One remark at the end, I'am not available via skype or any other phone commmunication, because I have to go now; written contact via forum or email is better.

Best regards, Waldmeister.

Yep :-)

My remaining two zip-Files are also up now. :-)

Therefore, after a ton of obstacles, I was able to generate my first fully completed CPDN-Task ever. I am ecstatic! :-)

Gonna start the second task in the very near future now.

What's up folks? Problem with the disk resolved or what?

I am having two files that need to be uploaded to complete my task. Task itself is done since early tuesday and I am waiting to finish the job.

I am not going to start another task until I am sure uploads work.

I am having about the same problem for one and a half days.

But look at the last announcement in the "news and announcement" thread :

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=5447

Maybe that's the explanation, but I do not know for sure.

You (most likely) are right.

Everything on par right now. Four trickles, about 800p. equals four scores.

Case closed. Thanks a lot!

Ok, thanks!

Thing is, scoring went up exactly at the time I uploaded trickles two and later three, so I assumed scoring went missing at trickle one.

Let's hope for the best! ;)

OK, thanks, problem basically solved. I decided to continue the first task and it works just fine.

One thing however went missing: I am running task 13418020 that created three trickles up till now. However scoring of the first trickle seems to be missing: As I see, there are roughly 200 points (credits) awarded per trickle with those EU-Tasks. Therefore I should have received roughly 600 points for three trickles. I seem to have gotten credits for the two trickles that I delivered Sep. 28. But it seems I did not get the points for the first trickle uploaded at Sep. 27 at the time of the error.

May somebody have a look at it? Thanks!

OK, I have the same problem, just didn't see that the problem was already discussed.

My detailed problem description is listed here:

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7292

It involves the running task with name "hadam3p_eu_2rey_1998_1_007461492_0"
and the yet to start task with name "hadam3p_eu_2qdx_1993_1_007461494_0"

What to do, especially with the first task that I have halted now at about 10%:
continue/remain halted/cancel?

Strange thing that I have never experienced before anywhere around the world of BOINC:

A few days ago I spotted the CPDN server status page offering some at that time rare HADAM3P EU-Region tasks. These task are pleasant to me because they are relatively short (for CPDN-standards) and decided to grab one of them (I actually got two).

Yesterday I started the (first) task (after all other tasks were finished). Everything is fine, the task works, graphics work, a first trickle upload worked.

But problem: there seems to be no WU associated to this task. This task does not appear on my results page and I have not received any credit for the trickle. In fact there is no indication of any menu item with scoring numbers (even no zeros or -).

My account name is Waldmeister with computer ID 1154145.

This is my task list page (wu result page): http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?userid=656304

This is the page of the running task: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=13418020
showing wu number 7658995

If you press this wu number an almost blank page appears only showing the message: "Unable to handle request; can't find workunit"

This is the trickle page: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/trickle.php?resultid=12984618

Is that all correct? Does this tasks anytime show up on my results page? Can I expect to get credits for the trickles or the entire task? I have no explanation. What happened?
