Hi

Just when I was about to write "it's stuck with me too" it started to upload again :)

edit : well then it gets stuck again, then it restarts again... so I guess we'll have to wait for the return of the Jedi...

Wow, I can upload !

Good news, it's been so long I wasn't able to do it that I have almost 800 MB to upload now, it's going to take a while with my DSL 110 KBPS upload...

Thanks for fixing this !

As I said, since there is such a long deadline it's not a real problem, only a pain :D

I have a http error while trying to upload a zip file + one of the upload servers is down (http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/server_status.html) but there are others online...

Last time I tried to upload was 1 or 2 weeks ago (I crunch on an offline machine and move WU with USB key on a windows VM into my home Mac when they are terminated, and request new work from the VM), and it was down too... I have now 4 WU waiting for upload... the good thing is that the deadline is faaaaar away ;)

I suspect from the error message on the model's page, that you have a different problem.

Please read this post at the top of the Macintosh section.

I hadn't seen that answer (forum notification doesn't seem to work much), I've not been monitoring CPDN closely but I suspect that all the other WUs have been in error since then...

The other thread suggests to detach / reattach, I'll do it when I'm home...

I hadn't been monitoring but I now realize they have been failing for the last 3 days, maybe (cannot sort the WU order in the result list by date, and a bit tired by now to make a in depth analysis).

They were all "UK Met Office Coupled Model Full Resolution Ocean v6.07" and "UK Met Office HADAM3P European Region v6.09" on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I don't know if it's the same issue than the one you are discussing above, too much text to read for my headache right now...

Just for follow-up information, the procedure was a success :

- end of computation on office windows PC
- transfer to key / windows on VM at home
- network upload / download
- transfer to key at the office, crunch

One of the new WU failed after 10mn calculation, so I had to it again yesterday evening, taking care of not allowing calculation on both the existing and the new one, and I restarted both this morning at the office, so far so good.

Thanks again for the help.

Je suppose que tu voulais dire "you're not alone" :D

Finally my boinc could get 2 WUs this morning (after another unsuccessful try early in the morning, I had a message similar to "can't get response from the server") just in time before I left to the office, so I could load this on my key and then on the office machine and it is happily crunching again.

What a pleasure to see again completion % increasing and remaining time decreasing !!!

I'll keep you posted about the fantastic progress of the little crunching machine :)

Things are not starting well... changed project options to restrict to hadam3p (4 applications have that name), I put boinc to suspended and network activity on again, then I cancelled those 2 WUs :'-( and then did project update... got 2 new hadam3p WUs... trying to download, did download a lot of files... "error downloading file", WU would stay with that error status... so I tried project reset, then nothing happens anymore (not doing any request to server) ... so forced project update again... and "reached daily quota of 4 tasks" !!!

Bloody ***** !! I don't have anymore task, they were cancelled and then in error !!

Actually i can see 2 pending units in my profile, but I swear there is nothing in my boinc

what can i do to tell it they don't exist anymore ??

This is an interesting advice.

Considering that I have 5 days of this computer activity per week, do you mean that I should no even care bringing back the data home on the week-end (since I shouldn't have it running on my windows virtual machine) until it is completed at the office, and only then do the update from home ?

Or is it of some interest to have it communicate from home the same way (without running) so it can deliver the "trickels" during the week-end, and then let it continue at work until completed ? (I assume it would take more than 5 days to complete, or not necessarily ?)

"and is therefore the main way to compare performance" : to compare performance between what ? two different computers ?

Hi,

too bad, I thought I had activated mail notification on that thread but obviously I didn't, so I only see these answers now that I am back to the office...

Anyway I understand (and I should have understood before I guess) that it's useless to keep these two running. I also understand that it may not be a good idea to run CPDN across two different computers, and I feel from both your comments that it may be linked to the problem I'm having.

However I'm willing to give another try, so I'll figure out how to configure CPDN in order only to have hadam3p only and will load them back at home tonight. Then I'll see how it behaves, if I run into such problem again I'll know for sure that CPDN is not an option here.

Anyway I don't have much choice as I said, there is no way I can configure boinc to connect to internet here (proxy setting hidden + windows user password unknown - ID card login system) so I'm trying to find a way to have a weekly load of WU of some project, and I thought CPDN might be a good idea.

By the way : what does s/TS mean ?

Thanks for your quick responses anyway.
Jerome

edit : I had activated the mail notification, it seems not to work properly...

Hi all,

I think maybe i should have read this forum and thread earlier since i'm maybe facing a similar issue.

I'm new to CPDN (but not at all to boinc) and i decided to go for CPDN for the following reason : I have a computer at the office which cannot be connected to the net (and that's definitive), i know about the way of moving boinc files from one instance to another via USB key but I didn't want to do this often, so after discussing with boinc fellow from L'Alliance Francophone I thought going for CPDN was a good idea since WU are long.

So I bring back the WU (the only first 2 WU that I ever had since I started) in the week-end and have them crunching into a windows 7 virtual machine (I have an imac at home) and then back during the week to the office on the vista computer (2 cores in each).

The problem is that at the beginning I could see credit rising up and the 2 WU were sending some tricklets in the week when connected to the net, but then it started to "freeze", the number of hours is increasing and the % is moving forward and then backward (so kinda stuck below 70%), and the remaining hours always increasing...

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=10960172
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=10960153

I can't decide myself to cancel WU that are still active and not in "error" and where i have spent so many crunching hours...

What should I do ?

Thanks for your help.
Jerome
