Scheduler process down?
(Message 51186)
Posted 12 Jan 2015 by [AF>Le_Pommier] Jerome_C2005 Post: Unluckily at the office I had the exact same problem with a africa WU downloaded and brought in the machine via USB key (no way to have Internet access for boinc on that machine), but I have no access to Symantec antivirus setup, all is locked on this machine, also I can't run any setup, so I have to run an old 6.10 boinc version that I can use mobile (no setup). So the exe was not copied and obviously the task failed right away :-( |

Posted 10 Jan 2015 by [AF>Le_Pommier] Jerome_C2005 Post: Wow ! I just disabled both file and web agent and tried to restart download and network from boinc manager and that was it ! Thanks for the quick help ! The strangest thing is that I had long ago defined an exception for file check on the whole boinc directory in avast, in the file agent setup, but now I think I should also exclude the CPDN URL in the web agent... I'll try this later, thanks again (after finishing the download I was able to update and got 2 new WUs, yes sir !) |

So I didn't have to cancel it, after all :) |

(it started to crunch 45mn ago on my PC) Why is the server not able to cancel this / the project team not able to flag them as "bad" ? How long will we get such bad WUs ? (if they still are) Thanks |

Posted 25 Oct 2014 by [AF>Le_Pommier] Jerome_C2005 Post: The project preferences can be set according to "venue" - default, home, school, work. So I've set a "home" set of preferences that apply to the Mac (which has just collected a HADCM3N) and apply a default set to the rest. Right ! I "more or less" remembered it had to be done this way but I had never done it actually, it's setup now. Thanks for the tip, I'll see how it goes. |

Posted 8 Sep 2014 by [AF>Le_Pommier] Jerome_C2005 Post: I got 2 of those WUs on my iMac and they both failed after more than one day of calculation <core_client_version>7.5.0</core_client_version> But I did not suspend boinc or anything, the only thing I can think of is that I have changed (long ago) the parameter that tells boinc to switch application after one hour, I set it on one day instead (1440 minutes), so is this "killing" this application ? But these would be failing for almost everybody then, since this parameter is set to 60 mins by default in boinc installation and most people are probably not changing it... ? |

Apparently those error credit were removed now. However I can there were MORE credits removed than the one given by mistake : (my credits) 5 days ago : + 20 049 334 225 Today : -20 049 389 177 54952 credits are missing, I was punished because of CPDN error ? why this ? edit : my source is http://statseb.boinc-af.org/synthese_membre.py?cpid=0f427369fc065729f2235f772e83f26f On boincstats I see I have 763987, that is 709036 (statseb total creedit) + 54951 (the delta), so maybe the difference is only due to this site reading of the exported stat ? I told them. |

Posted 18 Mar 2014 by [AF>Le_Pommier] Jerome_C2005 Post: I got the same issue on a win7 machine with 2 WU (this and that), too bad since the computer where it happened only runs 2 CPDN WU and has no access to Internet, forced to play with a USB key and an old portable version of boinc to have it running, and considering how difficult it is to get some WUs lately, pfff... |

I know CPDN is going through a long period of almost no WU but it's giving false hope when this happens. Luckily last time I got 2 very long WUs that lasted 650 hours... hopefully I'll get others like those ones. |
