Unluckily at the office I had the exact same problem with a africa WU downloaded and brought in the machine via USB key (no way to have Internet access for boinc on that machine), but I have no access to Symantec antivirus setup, all is locked on this machine, also I can't run any setup, so I have to run an old 6.10 boinc version that I can use mobile (no setup).

So the exe was not copied and obviously the task failed right away :-(

Wow ! I just disabled both file and web agent and tried to restart download and network from boinc manager and that was it ! Thanks for the quick help !

The strangest thing is that I had long ago defined an exception for file check on the whole boinc directory in avast, in the file agent setup, but now I think I should also exclude the CPDN URL in the web agent...

I'll try this later, thanks again (after finishing the download I was able to update and got 2 new WUs, yes sir !)

Hi

Mine cannot download one WU for several days, it reported all OK and says it has one WU but can't download it, and when I update the project it won't ask for new work when I should have 2 WU on my dualcore (none left at the moment, only the one trying to download)

Mmmm I only saw your answer this morning, and guess what, the WU had crashed already after 15 hours of calculation...

Unhandled Exception Detected...

- Unhandled Exception Record -
Reason: Out Of Memory (C++ Exception) (0xe06d7363) at address 0x7645C41F

So I didn't have to cancel it, after all :)

Hello people

I have again another short WU that seems to be dated 2007.

I have to abort it too ? (it started to crunch 45mn ago on my PC)

Why is the server not able to cancel this / the project team not able to flag them as "bad" ?

How long will we get such bad WUs ? (if they still are)

Thanks

The project preferences can be set according to "venue" - default, home, school, work. So I've set a "home" set of preferences that apply to the Mac (which has just collected a HADCM3N) and apply a default set to the rest.

The preferences can be accessed from the "Your account" link in the menu to the left.

Right ! I "more or less" remembered it had to be done this way but I had never done it actually, it's setup now.

Thanks for the tip, I'll see how it goes.

If I want to avoid those WUs on the Mac and let them run on the office PC (*) what can I do ?

(*) which only runs CPDN, without internet connection, and a win VM at home to send/receive WUs

The post about credits was in reply to nairb.

***********

You have a variety of errors, so you need to learn what each of them mean.
Some are:

INITTIME: Atmosphere basis time mismatch is a problem with the data set. (Which they know about.)

ATM_DYN : INVALID THETA DETECTED is a "normal" failure mode. It means that the planetary physics in the model become unstable, so the modelling was stopped.

You also had:
process exited with code 9
Might be a Mac issue, or it could be related to you using a test version of BOINC.
The 2 trickle_up files got returned, so it may just be a post-processing error.

Thanks for the interesting info.

But most of my failures are the "code 9", so...

I'm not worried about credits and I know about the trickle mechanisms that's used here (and it's great !), it's more that I wonder "what the heck with this application" :D

None of the UK Met Office HadCM3 short v7.24 ever terminated successfully on my iMac : http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=1314566

It's not even "remember", it's "know" !

But they don't know about any scripting at all. bat files would "force" us to learn about scripting, somehow. And it was good :)

There has been two credits problems.
The second one hasn't been fixed yet.
No stats have been exported yet to external sites, so all of those are out of date.

Hopefully it will get fixed next week.

Thanks for the info, bon courage !!

I got 2 of those WUs on my iMac and they both failed after more than one day of calculation

But I did not suspend boinc or anything, the only thing I can think of is that I have changed (long ago) the parameter that tells boinc to switch application after one hour, I set it on one day instead (1440 minutes), so is this "killing" this application ?

But these would be failing for almost everybody then, since this parameter is set to 60 mins by default in boinc installation and most people are probably not changing it... ?

I'm not sure which of the threads is supposed to be the official one regarding the big credit issues, so I post here.

Apparently those error credit were removed now.

However I can there were MORE credits removed than the one given by mistake :

(my credits)
5 days ago : + 20 049 334 225

Today : -20 049 389 177

54952 credits are missing, I was punished because of CPDN error ? why this ?

edit : my source is http://statseb.boinc-af.org/synthese_membre.py?cpid=0f427369fc065729f2235f772e83f26f

On boincstats I see I have 763987, that is 709036 (statseb total creedit) + 54951 (the delta), so maybe the difference is only due to this site reading of the exported stat ? I told them.

I got the same issue on a win7 machine with 2 WU (this and that), too bad since the computer where it happened only runs 2 CPDN WU and has no access to Internet, forced to play with a USB key and an old portable version of boinc to have it running, and considering how difficult it is to get some WUs lately, pfff...

Yes I saw that, no problem for me, it's just I can only run CPDN on that computer where boinc cannot have its own access to Internet (corporate) so I move WU with USB key, and I can only do this with long running kind of WU, only CPDN is long enough to let me do that... so I'll wait :)

Same issue here, got 2 where it seems to be able to download all files except one which ends in "permanent download failure" and the WU goes error... I know CPDN is going through a long period of almost no WU but it's giving false hope when this happens.

Luckily last time I got 2 very long WUs that lasted 650 hours... hopefully I'll get others like those ones.
