This may or may not be helpful, but besides the credit problem, there are two others that are not mentioned in this thread but that may be other symptoms of a common root cause: (1) CPDN has not been cleaning up after itself. By early August when I suspended most CPDN tasks, I had about 30 GB of CPDN data accumulated, according to the Disk usage tab in BOINC Manager. I think the vast majority of those GB have accumulated since the problems started this summer. None of it has gone away since the servers began communicating and issuing new WUs. (2) In the CPDN slots directories, there are numerous cpdnoutN.zip files (N=integer), all only 1 KB in size, and when double-clicked all pop up a Windows error box to the effect that the zipped folder is invalid.

Good luck, guys. I know you've been hammering at it as best you can.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : Successful(?) WU downloads seem unknown to local BAM! (Message 42858)

On one of my machines I have found several Coupled Model WUs that appear to have successful startup downloads into datain, dataout, jobs, etc with download dates early-to-mid summer, but that I have never seen in the local manager Tasks list. Locally, BOINC has seemed unaware of them while later CPDN WUs have downloaded and run to completion. These WUs are shown as in-progress at CPDN, but these are distinct from other, full-out phantoms that I never received downloads for. Obviously I don't know all the files that should be present, but the only thing that stands out for these WUs-in-Limbo is they have no "slots" subdirectories, unless some of the empty slots subdirs are assigned to them. Should anything be pre-loaded into slots? If not, could there be a possible fix, maybe a hand-edit to a control file or such to make them runnable? If something vital is missing, I'll just delete them from my hard drive.
Thanks
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Phantom WU downloads still assigned (Message 42747)

In looking back through my computer's "All Tasks" listing, I find two WUs listed as downloaded on 7 June at 11:30:54 UTC. However, I can find no evidence that my computer actually received these WUs. There appear to be no related files on the hard drive, and I think the BAM window Tasks page has never shown them. Perhaps they were lost in a failed file transfer when the database was experiencing those intermittent hang-ups; I do recall at least once aborting tranfers that had been hung in transfer for a few days. The WUs are

7478009 and 7469512
(host 1095225, task IDs 12952638 and 12952639)

These WUs have due dates of 6 Sept 2011 and 19 May 2012, resp. Eventually they will time out, but meanwhile I see that the other machines that these WUs were assigned to have failed on computation errors so these WUs have been sitting in limbo for awhile. If there is a way to reissue them to someone before they time out here, they'll get done sooner - especially the 2012 WU. I'd be happy to take them on reissue if that can be arranged.

(P.S. Thanks for getting the data base working again and everything synchronized. Everything is going smoothly now.)
