Detatched all projects ? Uninstall BOINC (6.12.35) ? reboot & system maintenace ? Install BOINC (6.12.35) ? Attach projects ? permissions repair & defrag & reboot ? restart BOINC I cannot think of anything else to do to this computer that may effect these issues, so believe that it is reasonable to resume work at this point. -DKD |

Misconfiguration e-mail

Posted 26 Sep 2011 by DKD Post: Greetings, I received this message: > Your computer (host # 1083490) described below appears to have a misconfigured > BOINC installation and is crashing models. Would you please have a look at it? This machine is a very early MacPro Tower, currently running OS X 10.6.9 (10K549). I first noticed the problem late last winter & have already attempted several fixes. 1) Upgrade BOINC: 10.12.25patch2 --> 10.12.26 --> 10.12.33 (Aug 02) --> 10.12.35 (Sep 09) These changes do not appear to effect the problem 2) Upgrade OS X: Regular updates, typically between 1 week and 3 weeks after release. 3) Run other projects; on other computers; detatch/re-atach Einstein & yoyo do not have any execution problems. Other computers do not have this problem Re-attach did not effect it. Do you have any additional suggestions ? |

Can\'t resolve host name error

Posted 15 Mar 2010 by DKD Post: Thank you very much for your help . . . The reference thread proposed a test fix for this problem in response to another user -- Installing the experimental version (6.10.36A) directly over 6.10.36 completely resolved the issue. My client has uploaded 4 completed simulations, downladed 4 new simulations, and resumed computation; although I did need to force the update manually to overcome the automated delays. I do not want to create YET ANOTHER account, thus I must leave it to somebody else, who has write access in those forums, to report this back to Charlie Fenton. I am using OS X 10.6.2 on a 4x3GHz (early) Mac Pro tower. |

Posted 15 Mar 2010 by DKD Post: I acquired similar behaviour when I upgraded from BOINC 6.10.21 --> 6.10.36. I tried to revert to 6.10.21, but the installer checks if there was a previously installed more recent version & refuses to install even after uninstall & reboot. It will be a pity to scrub everything to start over. There is now over 900 hours of completed work waiting for upload. |
