Question on a Windows 845 work unit. The following unit posted trickles and uploaded as complete and successful, but received no credit. As a side note during it's computation I did have a power failure as a result of the tornadoes that hit Dallas TX last night. I was not home but it appears that my system did a graceful shutdown via my UPS battery backup.

https://www.cpdn.org/workunit.php?wuid=11912558

Could someone more knowledgeable than my self look at the results to see if they were valid and if credit will be granted later ?

Thanks

Well it has been several weeks since Credit updates have been posted for export. Script scheduling or operator initiated it could use a bump

It also appears that the Stat's Export point that BOINCStat's and other statistic pages look at has been changed or affected.

Currently the Time update is 2019-05-29 09:16:39 UTC (14 days 04:00:49 old)

This normally updates daily regardless of Stat's Export which is usually a Sunday night event.

Reference URL is https://boincstats.com/en/stats/2/project/detail

Dave

You mention a Test site. Is there another project that users can volunteer on to assist with "Testing" ?

The Project preferences under out accounts does not list permissions for BETA testing etc.

Thanks

I have my notifications option set for "once daily" Yet I never re3ceive a notification that a Tread that I am subscribed to has been updated. I have to manually sign into my account and look my notifications

Can this be looked at and fixed ?

I was looking at the specs of computers running CPDN this morning and noticed there are a lot of Android devices signed up. Is there a way of telling those users when they sign up that they will never get any work for their phones/tablets etc?

If someone could someone with ADMIN level to that effect then itwould down load to each client and user during next update.

And a "sticky" note posting in one or more forums would be approiate.

Well we are almost to a month now with no credits. Our old friend is back.

If this was not a worthwhile project no one would put up with no work and no credit and limited communications from the top.

Darn good thing that there are many other worthwhile projects to burn clock cycles on.

If you add Tasks by Application it does not equal Tasks in Progress.

Do we have missing Applications or is the Total not working ?

So now is when you want to do all the OS patches that require reboots and change the fan that rumbles a little now and then ?

CPDN has just taken away the excuse... but I have that long running WU that I don't want to disturb !

The concept of re-cycling or re-issuing the abandoned or lost WU's that are out there "assigned" to a computer that is no longer crunching for CPDN but the extended due by date has not expired has multiple purposes.

1. Get the WU to someone who can crunch it (science being done)
2. Finish up researchers models that have holes in them from missing WU's
3. Clear out older WU's from the 100K base of WU's in the Field

They are not Dead but they are stuck in the Twilight Zone.

Well to restate my original thought about a WU with no Trickle in 90 Days (assuming that it is not one of the batches known to have trickle issues.

If a USER has so many WU's queued that he can't get it started in 90 days they have too many WU's and needs to release so others can do science.

OR

If the user has reloaded an OS and no longer has access to the "assigned" WU to work it... Then it is Orphaned and should be re-cycled

How hard would this be to implement ?

We have about 7000 active Users running about 9000 active systems and there are about 103000 WU's out being worked now.

That works out to 11 WU's per active system.

I have a system that needs a WU but there are none available.

Under the heading of Orphaned WU's if the system has a WU that has not Trickled in 90 days and the WU is not one of the known groups with Trickle issues. Could these be aborted by the Project and reissued ?

Science is science it should be completed !!!

Well we were chugging along getting Credits posted every 6, 7 or 8 days which was WONDERFUL.

We are now at Day 9 on our current string. Did we have a holiday across the Pond or do we have a stuck script ?

I know that it is never wise to question the Wizard of Oz, but as the National Inquirer says "inquiring Minds Wish To Know"

New Versions of BOINC (Version 7.14.2) Development Version are now available for testing for Windows, Linux and Macintosh.

These versions address issues discovered so far during testing. Latest BOINC Client Development releases for Mac and Windows platforms is available on the BOINC public download site:

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

After upgrading from 7.12.1 to 7.14.2 on a Win 7 AMD box new BOINC picked up a Weather At Home 2 (wah2) v8.24 WU in progress and has trickled twice. So far so good.

Ok everyone is looking for the small baby steps to full recovery.... Export of Stat's started back up in a very limited fashion on Aug 24th.

Check out the Host stats listed below and you can see where they stopped exporting and when they resumed.

That I5-5200U system is a Dell Inspiron laptop. Not real well endowed at 6Gb ram and it is not crunching for about 5 hours per day (heat of the day hot room issue).

It is also crunching for 12 other projects.

If the numbers still look like Training Wheel numbers I am open to suggestions.

Thanks
Bill F
