1) Message boards : Number crunching : Well, that was interesting (Message 35592)

As well as the server we knew was down until today Monday, another went down unexpectedly during the weekend taking the website and this forum with it. This was announced as soon as we knew for sure in the News threads of SAP, BBC, Beta, server status thread of boinc_dev, and the independent CPDN forum. If ever this forum is down, the place to look (and if necessary post) is the independent forum. It\'s hosted separately at the Open Uni in Milton Keynes so even if the whole of Oxford Uni is cut off by its regional network we can still communicate.

I tried to get into the independent forum at one stage yesterday as I couldn\'t get into my usual account page but it kept timing out, so I assumed that it had gone down as well. I didn\'t realise that it was hosted by the OU.
2) Message boards : Number crunching : Kaspersky blew up one of my models (Message 35511)

I\'m using the free version of AVG as av and anti-spyware protection and comodo pro (again free) as my firewall. Neither are giving any problems with the CPDN models.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : average credits query (Message 35110)

No. The credit allocation process has all sorts of delays in it: it runs only once a day, for a start - and sometimes not at all. So trickles submitted yesterday may or may not show up today. Your \'recent average credit\' (RAC) will climb slowly to a peak over weeks; it should then settle down.

RAC is an averaged statistic that gives an indication of the rate at which work is done, so it will always be higher for a 24/7 computer than for the same computer run only part time. However, you do have to wait a bit.

Ok, I\'ll keep an eye on it in that case.
4) Message boards : Number crunching : average credits query (Message 35108)

Since altering my internet and pc use so that the model is running 24/7, I\'ve noticed that my average credit doesn\'t seem to be picking up as fast as it did when I was only running the models during the day. I\'m currently running a 4 phase model but despite sending 4 trickles through yesterday, my average credit has only increased by 2. would I be better off from the average credits point of view to return to not running 24/7 and making the manager request permission to upload each trickle?
5) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc Manager not responding. (Message 34832)

Thank you, the first option has worked.
6) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc Manager not responding. (Message 34830)

I opened up the messages tab in my boinc manager some 30 minutes or so ago to check why it was flashing red at me in simple view. Now I can\'t close the messages down or the main boinc manager window, instead I get a message up saying that the programme isn\'t responding. I\'ve tried right clicking on the icon in the taskbar to try to pause and close it that way but there\'s no response from that either. I\'m reluctant to close it through task manager as I don\'t know if that will muck up the model or not. What am I supposed to do now?
