Well, I have completed several tasks from the HadAM3P-series, more than 300,000 seconds each, no error, but also no credit (not even claimed):

Host: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=1240209

One of the results: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=9346528

Always works for me - are you pressing \"Z\" first so that the grey panel to the left of the globe goes away?

Fantastic! Thanks, that solved the problem!

Hi,

unfortunately the \"Checkpoint Countdown\" does not work. When I hit \"8\" on the normal keyboard nothing happens at all. If I hit \"8\" on the numeric keyboard the Help-screen shows and disappears.

How can I see the countdown?

Hi,
Credit for CPDN Classic and CPDN beta has been added in the CPDN stats.
Nobody is cheating and the answer to your question is already in the links you provided (the Boincstats shoutbox)

Thanks for the explanation! Mind that the Shout-Box message was posted at 15:28, 21 minutes after I posted my question.

Yesterday hundreds of users returned complete models without having sent any trickles before: Climate Prediction World stats

How is that possible? I thought a model times-out if there is no answer from the client for a certain time-frame? How is it possible, that all these hundreds of users return their completed models all on the same day? This smells a lot like cheating.

e.g. this user reported 62,573 credits on one day: Detailed statistics for \"Ian\". He has 4 hosts and ALL of them are inactive!
The same applies to this user with 2 (Inactive) clients: Detailed statistics for \"tarboi\"
The most extreme: This user reported 758,587 credits with 1(!) inactive client: Detailed statistics for \"Willbur\".
Another one is not far behind: Detailed statistics for \"Fritz313\" reported 724,617 credits with 2 inactive clients.

What is going on?

Wellll... it looks like someone kick-started the server again, but the transitioner backlog is listed as 73 hours, so even if everything is working correctly it may be a while before we see any trickles/credits posted...

This is not the number that worries me, and it drained to 0 by now. The real problem is this:

Workunits waiting for validation: 98,994

This may take days to drain...

It seems the trickle server is having issues, again. Last 48 hours my RAC has dropped, and no credit has been given, even though I know I have trickled up.

Right, I can confirm this.

Thanks for all that valuable information!

One more question: Where can I see the trickles in the coupled model?

Les once wrote:

When you go to the model page, you need to fiddle with the url window on the browser. Replace show_host_detail with result
Then you can see the old style results page.

So, for instance, one of your model then has the url http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=5430459 instead of http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/graph_cm3.php?resultid=5430459

I think this information is quite valuable... (at least for me) ;-)

Herzlichen Dank!

One more question: Where can I see the trickles in the coupled model? It used to be available when I clicked the Result ID but with the coupled model I only receive a lot of data (that I don\'t understand) but no trickle information! How much credit is granted for each trickle?

We\'re discussing it on the message boards at the moment.
Will post a message when something is known.
I\'m a bit shocked that loss of support may also mean no further uploads, but I don\'t know what has happened.

Seems to be fixed now. 2 trickles successfully sent.

Hi,

I currently run 4 models, all of them in Phase 3, one at timestep 205,238, so almost finished. However, since yesterday I receive the following messages:

\"Message from server: platform \'powerpc-apple-darwin\' not found\"

This happens whenever my computer wants to upload a trickle. I understand that MacOS X is not welcomed anymore, but does that also mean we cannot even finish running models?

\"The 5.2.x versions do a slightly better job of estimating. Bill Michel did suggest an even more accurate (perhaps) estimation, but the formula is more complex. Not sure if that is what stopped them from using the suggestion.

I also don\'t know if BIll has been collecting the data to see if the formula he suggested is still better or not. For me, what is worse is that the current version of BOINC View uses the older method still ... the next version should be at least showing the value that the BOINC Daemon is using ... so that will be an advance ...\"

Paul,

I do use BOINC Manager 5.2.13! The version number I posted above is the science-app\'s version.

In all my WUs I receive very weird numbers for the time remaining.

Example: model 10vs_100068301_0 shows (client hadsm3 4.12):
Time elapsed: 300:19:22
Percentage done: 50,98%
Time remaining: 178:14:54

Do the maths!

18) Message boards : Number crunching : Database Sluggish -- Moved Trickle Info \'Down\' (Message 18562)

In Internet Explorer the user can add and name the different trickle pages for models that have to be checked on trickle update.
(Other browser would have possiblities alike)

hi again Kilcock

yes, in IE you set the trickle pages as \'favorites\'; in Firefox you bookmark them - same thing really.

It still means one bookmark/favorite for each model - with 8 boxes and 11 active model that still leaves 11 bookmarks to check.

An even better way in the firefox browser is to open each of these pages in separate tabs, then use the firefox facility to save the entire set of tabs as a single bookmark. This means that one click gets all the pages, and you simply scan from one tab to the next to look at them all.

Firefox is free and open source and available for all the platforms running CPDN, more info & downloads from www.firefox.com

It is still 12 clicks to see all the info, so I\'d still prefer some way of getting it all onto one page. Also it means that when I click on the one bookmark it sends 11 queries to the database all together - a well designed single page might be less of a load on the database

River~~

edits: speeling & typos ;-)

I do agree with this fullheartedly! It gets especially annoying when you use computers with multiple CPUs, each CPU running its own workunit. For each CPU you need at least 4 clicks to find out if it reported in or not:
1. Your Account
2. Results
3. Result ID
4. Trickle #
All of this times the number of CPUs you use. And this is the best-case scenario!

The main account page does not show any trickle information anymore (since Dec. 20th). It is very complicated now to check which computer reported a trickle.
Martin,
see the other 2 or 3 threads for Carl\'s explanation.
You can still see when all of your computers last contacted server on a \"Your computers\" page. I think this option is quite easy to navigate.
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/hosts_user.php

Honza,

thanks for your reply. However, this does not work/gives minimum information when using multi-CPU or dual-core computers. The are still listed as 1 computer but run as many WUs as it has CPUs. Therefore it is very complicated to get an overview about the status of the different workunits. You have to navigate every single CPU down to the result ID. Only there you can see if and when a trickle was returned.

What has happenned to the results on your account, mine has vanished. All the trickles from stage two and those just from stage three gone. Has the moderator decided to stop them showing or is it a fault?

Same problem here. The main account page does not show any trickle information anymore (since Dec. 20th). It is very complicated now to check which computer reported a trickle.

PLEASE BRING THIS INFORMATION BACK!!!
