1) Message boards : Number crunching : Unable to view task (Message 44328)

Well, it has been a while ;)

Any news on this that I missed?

While not essential, it was nice to see the graphical results of the model.

It seems to come and go ;)

When it's "gone" I get "connect() failed" as the error. At least I have some of these in the logs too. Normally I ignore these because usually it just means the server isn't up ;)

I'm currently unable to upload ZIP 12 from a HADAM3P EU task. The upload goes to 100% and then errors out:

08.06.2012 10:00:41 | climateprediction.net | [error] Error reported by file upload server: can't open file /storage/incoming/uploader/hadam3p_eu_d7tn_2008_1_007976349_2_12.zip: Permission denied

The final ZIP 13 uploaded without any problems.

I had some time so I took another look at some of WUs.

All of these computers have no successfully completed tasks listed:
975228
1063016
1080305

Last successfully completed a task on 13 Jan 2010:
644869

The last one I'm not so sure about:
1056295
This computer was only created in February and hasn't had a successfully completed task yet - these I've looked into failed with exit status -2 (Could not launch model process. Last Error=193).
However it belongs to a member who has more than 20 active computers and a high RAC. His other computers appear to be running smoothly. Maybe a simple info message about that particular computer would be enough in this case.

Hi,

in my case it is:

BOINC client shows (not yet updated): 434,117.44 (BOINCstats shows the same for Aug 30th)
Website shows: 353,259
Diff: -80858.44

Without the news post I wouldn't have noticed ;)
I display only the RAC in the stats of the BOINC client.

This WU was also handed out to two more computers on March 9th - they also failed with download error on the same file 10 minutes later.

WU 6773615 downloaded successfully about one minute later.

Post:
08-Mar-2010 21:00:18 [---] Suspending computation - CPU usage is too high

There is a new preference to control this behavior. It tells BOINC to stop computing when a certain threshold of CPU usage is consumed by other applications than BOINC. The default value is 25% I think. You can find this setting under Extras->Preferences: \"While processor usage is less than ... \". To achieve old behavior set it to 0 (no limit).

The bench mark failure happens for me occasionally too. Normally It runs fine if I start it again manually.

I found a few too (all with me on WU 6668123)

These two seem to have all errors (zero CPU time, Average turnaround time 0 days, Avg. credit 0.00):

host 1048960: 43 tasks
host 922470: 850 tasks

These two produce lots of errors (with zero CPU time), but once in a while they report a task successfully:
host 991013: 867 tasks
host 1042139: 75 tasks

For what it\'s worth, my friend records the \'% completed,\' from the boinc Manager, daily, in a spiral notebook. That makes a blue world easy to spot. If you can see the Manager, it might work for you. (She doesn\'t spend much time with it -- and she runs two Quads exclusively for CPDN.)

Good idea, thanks. Maybe I\'ll write a small app that does that for me, so that I can just have a look at the daily records from time to time.

I\'ve already been following the beta forums for a few months. I hope they\'ll be able to track the remaining errors down. Variable model length isn\'t really an issue for me but it will probably make a lot of people happy ;)

I hope the Slab Models won\'t be the only available type for long.
One of my computers isn\'t able to display the graphics (lacks OpenGL support). Which means for SM tasks I have to repeatedly check the last trickles to detect if it\'s a possible \"iceworld\" (unfortunately I haven\'t found a better solution yet). With the HADAM3P this was not necessary :)
14) Questions and Answers : Windows : Transferring or backup CPDN current project? (Message 38937)

Post:
Just remember if it is a more recent version of Boinc that the BOINC folder does not contain any data only the Boinc programme files.
You also need to copy the APPLICATION DATA Folder as well.

This you need to copy the complete BOINC installation of the BOINC folder AND the Application Folder (which contains your project data files).

Older versions did not have this problem as only had the BOINC folder with everything in it.

JIM has already taken that into account in his guide. In Windows 7 (and Vista) the \"Application Data\"-Folder is now the ProgramData-Folder (usually C:\\ProgramData) which is not the same as \"C:\\Program Files\". It\'s a lot easier to find than its old 2000/XP-location :)

It\'s definitively more than one mirror affected. The following aren\'t working either:

The download URL in client_state.xml is:
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download/mirror.php?file=/hadam3p_6.14_windows_intelx86.exe

Trying manually in the browser results in a 404 error for:
http://climateprediction.net/cpdn_mirror//hadam3p_6.14_windows_intelx86.exe

The same occurs for the other source files:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download/mirror.php?file=/hadam3p_se_6.14_windows_intelx86.zip

Hi,

your tasks are not sorted in the chronological order you received them. They\'re sorted by workunit ID (which probably is being assigned when the WU is initially created).

I see currently 8 active WUs assigned to your host. Unfortunately they\'re not listed on page 1: Link

Newer versions of the BOINC web interface provide a function to filter your tasks (Show: All | In progress | Pending | Valid | Invalid | Error). Hopefully CPDN will update to the newer version at some point.
