Things that are delayed when this happenes is my mouse or any keyboard commands. If I have windows media player playing some MP3's it keeps playing no problem. I can get the mouse to shut things down I just have to be patient and only move it a little at a time as the delay can be up to 30 seconds.

I am only connected to CPDN. I am not certain however if I have ever tried conntecting to other projects and have for some reason removed them.

I had been having a problem with Windows Journal Viewer wanting to be installed everytime Adobe Acrobat would start so I reinstalled Journal Viewer 1.5 from Microshaft website which fixed that problem. Since then I have not had a problem with this happening but I'll post here if I do continue to have problems.

I just had it happen again and was able to get my system back.

1. Exited Outlook
2. Exited open Windows Eplorer Window (not IE)
3. Exited Macromedia Fireworks.

After about 30 seconds the machine was back to normal and I opened up all my apps again with no problem.

Any ideas. I'm running office 2000

I have yet to fully diagnose my problem but while at work my computer locks up every two or so hours and once explorer.exe and/or Outlook is killed the computer seems to function quickly but this is only during shutdown and I can\'t get it to do anything else except shut itself down by hitting the powerbutton and letting it do it\'s thing. I have let it run all day without running BOINC and it doesn\'t mess up. I\'ve also run for days with BOINC going and no Outlook going but once I start the two together it\'s a time bomb. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I am running XP Pro with SP1 on a 1.8ghz Centrino with 512mb RAM & 20GB free space on the HD. I\'m running 4.05 BOINC but can\'t remember if I got it from the Setiweb or CPDN site.

6) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC Preferences not working correctly (Message 1216)

For whatever reason I have been unable to get my Preferences for home, work, school to take effect. I can get my general preferences to apply to my computers but when I make changes and then select which location my computers are at it does not affect they way my BOINC client runs.

I can see they are not taking effect because i set my school preferences to use 2 processors and my work preferences to use only 1. Either way I set this it does not apply when Updating. I am able to get it to do what I want by making changes in my BOINC general preferences then updating the client but this is not how it should work.

9) Questions and Answers : Windows : No data downloaded? (Message 1007)

I have also had this problem but knew what the errors was. I was trying to run of my C drive that only had about 2GB free space so I installed onto my X drive which is a clean 40GB partition. When I installed to this drive my BOINC client showed me to have 40GB free on this partition but it would still not download WU. I then had to goto my preferences and set it up to get data for 0.1 - 0.2 days. I also set it to use at max 1.5GB since I had 2GB left on my C. I also set it up to use 100% of hard drive space.

Shouldn't this disk space check when requesting WU check the drive it's installed on and not the C drive ?

I remember when signing up that it was said you\'d need around 600MB of disk space per WU and it would use around 50MB RAM. What will the upload size of a result be? I\'m using dialup at the moment and am wanting to know if I\'ll need to move my computer to a high speed line once my results are finished ?
13) Questions and Answers : Macintosh : OS X 10.2.X Problem 4.x Solution ? (Message 369)

I'm participating in all the BOINC projects at the moment and have yet to get a good version of it to run on my Powerbook G4 at 1ghz. I'm still running 10.2.8 on account that I have no way to upgrade to 10.3. Is there a compile out there built for the 10.2.x OS ? The Predictor@Home project has made one with limited success. THey have an individual that compiles on for them but his time is scarce. Is there anyone who can compile the 4.x BOINC for a mac with version 10.2.x as the working on I have is a 3.x version.
