How to run multiple projects on BOINC
(Message 23607)
Posted 14 Jul 2006 by old_user51669 Post: To reinforce what Mike said, you have to take the long term view when running more than one project. See what it does over 2-3 months, not over a couple of days. (...) And fiddling with the settings will make it worse (...) Message received and understood ;-) I\'ll try to be patient and keep my hand off the management software ... Again: thanks for helping (and for being frank in the advice given). -- Arlekin\'s Dream Ltd. / Bernd Villiger et al. |

Posted 13 Jul 2006 by old_user51669 Post: The overcommitted messages explain why you\'re having problems. The Boinc manager thinks it has downloaded too much work to do it all within their deadlines, so it\'s panicing and concentrating on the nearest deadline. Looks like it - since I cancelled some of the SETI tasks, CPDN is getting it\'s share of the cpu time (eager to know what will happen after the next update ...). Thanks for helping. |

Posted 6 Jul 2006 by old_user51669 Post: When you say they\'re running one at a time, are they taking turns at one hour intervals, or is it behaving differently? On my machine (single CPU) it run constantly (as expected) but doesn\'t take any turn(s) at all - the second project (set on 1/10 of resource) keeps running all day long ... :-( -- Arlekin\'s Dream Ltd. / Bernd Villiger et al. |
