I don't know how but I just got 1300 credit for something I havn't done. 1000 credit off an WU that I only just started and hasn't trickled once, and 200 off another one.

What's going on?

AMD Duron 1.8GHZ - 4.25 s/TS
mobile AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (1.6GHZ) - 5.25 s/TS (due to slow SD-RAM memory)

When you shut down your laptop, make sure you right click on the BOINC icon in the taskbar and click suspend. Wait a few seconds while BOINC stops the CPDN model, then close BOINC, then shut down your system.

Shutting down your system often without suspending + closing BOINC can cause problems as when you shut down Windows, BOINC has no control over the way Windows shuts down all software (usually just by "killing" it) and thus can cause problems if data is in memory and it shuts the PC off too soon (data curruption).

Hope this helps.

Should I upgrade from version 4.16 or should I back-up my BOINC directory first? I don't want to loose an WU that has 60% completion.

That reminds me of the wind here in England. Morning it's very carm, then in the afternoon it's a blizzard.

One single crash and you would quit the project?

I've had many models fail on me, and they have all been due to hardware problems. I finnaly fixed them and now my PC's are running nice and stable.

8) Questions and Answers : Wish list : PC numbers in teams shown as \"hidden\" if set to \"hidden\" (Message 8083)

Is there any way to make the website NOT show how many hosts a user has when looking at a team if there preferences are set to hide there hosts?

I would rather not have people looking to see how many PC's I have running CPDN.
9) Message boards : Number crunching : mobile Athlon XP in a Socket A motherboard? (Message 8081)
Posted 29 Jan 2005 by Profile old_user504
Post:
Hi all. I've seen around on websites about people talking about them putting mobile Athlon's into there Socket A motherboards (proper desktop ones) and I was wondering if this was actually possible?

I'm wondering this as my laptop has a mobile Athlon XP 1900+ CPU running at 1.6GHZ, with an average s/TS of approx 5.23, although the memory in my laptop causes the s/TS to stay around 5 (it has 133MHZ SDRAM memory).

I was wondering if I could take the CPU out when the laptop is out of warranty (this year) and slot it into my old motherboard which supports a FSB of up to 400MHZ, and supports DDR memory (meaning increased performance for the processor).

However, I'm not sure what the FSB of the mobile processor is and if it will run in the motherboard or not. The motherboard I plan to put it in is a Asus A7V600-X, and at the moment has an AMD Duron 1800 running at 1.8GHZ (approx 4.25 s/TS, due to the small L2 cache).

Thanks!

11) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Slower computers getting more credit on each trickle (Message 4451)
Posted 21 Sep 2004 by Profile old_user504
Post:
...Basically like SETI@Home, depending on how long the computer has taken to complete an WU or a trickle, the more credit they gain. I\'ve had to put my notebook\'s processor speed down to 500mhz because of some cooling problem (looking into it) but it\'s annoying that I\'m not going to be reseiving as much credit as before even though it\'s doing more work.

Please add this feature in, it will help any one with a slower computer.

You are unable to delete hosts once they have had an WU sent to the machine. By the sounds of it your hosts have, therefore you are unable to delete them hosts now.

OK I just re-ran the benchmark on this system WITH EVERYTHING CLOSED and the GUI reported it at 4.60 s/TS, which is around what it should be. I cannot get my notebook to go any lower than 7.50 s/TS though.

I'm also getting poor performance on my mobile AMD Athlon XP 1900+, which is getting 7.50 s/TS and other mobile Athlon XP's are getting around 3-5 s/TS :(

I didn't find anything useful on that link :(
18) Questions and Answers : Windows : Poor performance from an AMD Duron (Message 3078)

Post:
I have an AMD Duron 1800MHZ in my main PC, but when looking at other AMD Durons that are actually slower than mine, they seem to have a lower s/TS than mine and are able to claim credit faster.

The lowest s/TS I can get from this is 5.5. Is there anything I can do to make it run faster?

I\'m running the 4.03 BETA CLI version as a service, and have Windows 2000 Pro set to give more CPU timing to services.

Thanks in advance.

I\'ve decided to change my team to the Cable Forum CPDN team since I post on the forum a lot, but my credit hasn\'t added onto the total credit yet, and my name is shown up in the member list. Does my existing credit add onto the total of my new team or does it stay on my last team?

I was looking at my profile and found the classic CPDN stats in my profile (which I did not earn) they are some one elses, if that person (who must have the name Scott in the classic CPDN) is to post on here, can an admin transfer the stats since they are not mine?

Thanks
