1) Message boards : climateprediction.net Science : Climate results and why we do this (Message 52168)

Been around for a while with cpdn and i got to thinking: Is this doing any good? I've seen the results page but how to we know they are accurate? So my idea is running a climate model say from the start of year 2000 with all the important starting points and having it run through say 2014. Then, when these are finished, look at the model and compare it to what actually happened between 2000-2014. At that point we would know how accurate these models could be/are. Am i along the right path or am i not looking at it from the right point of view?

I have not received any work on either of my computers in 3+weeks now. I remember reading somewhere that there is no more work to give out. Is this accurate and is the project done?

You don\'t need a switch, you need a router. The router connects to your cable or DSL modem, has a hardware firewall associated with it, acts as a switch to network your computers together, and allow access to the internet from all computer on the network.

What is a switch used for?

everyone\'s help has been invaluable to getting things set-up. I now have a question about networking. This switch( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=383560&CatId=2789 ) i am looking to buy to connect three computers to one ethernet connection. But i don\'t see how the ethernet line connects to this switch. Any advice on how to go about this would great. P.S. i would rather remain wired just for the reliability. Thanks again to all who has helped.

I new to the climate and i have a question. As far as better performance for bonic projects, what would be the best upgrade? More ram, faster processor? Something else?
