A Proper updated regularly news page for BONIC with RSS!

I am aware that other people have touched on this subject - I like to keep up to date with all my BONIC projects to see whats going on etc. At the minute the RSS feed that i get from CPDN is very sporadic and generally has little real project news.

By all means i dont want it so detailed that i know when all the staff are at lunch! but i do like to know how the Bonic system is working, if there are scheduled outages or what the latest recommended core client is. I know that most of this is probably displayed somewhere on the site - but i often dont have the time to spend an hour or so looking for news every time i log in!

I would hope you can implement such a page without too much trouble. an ideal place would be the Bonic welcome page (http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/index.php) .

And i'm certain that many other people will appreciate it as well as me.

Thanks

Hi just found this peach of an entry in the message box!

anyone any ideas why this may have happened?

- climateprediction.net - 2004-09-26 16:18:36 - Unrecoverable error for result 01wp_000027458_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))
- climateprediction.net - 2004-09-26 16:18:36 - Computation for result 01wp_000027458 finished

Then this:-
- SETI@home - 2004-09-26 16:18:39 - Unrecoverable error for result 06my04aa.15945.12674.254826.107_1 ( - exit code -1073741515 (0xc0000135))

This WU was the one of the one's that would not upload upon completion ihave followed the email and changed the state xml file and i had updated to the 4.09 client and had no probs.

i'm running cpdn on 80% + seti on 20%

so far BONIC has just downloaded new files and seems to be crunching away nicely

When CPDN 1st went BONIC the main BONIC page had a window displaying all the latest news about the functionality of the system eg expected server work, unexpected outages, changes to the client etc. Where has this page gone?

Anyone any ideas - i have looked in the project news area and all i can find is just general project news not system info etc.

Have you updated to the 4.05 Bonic core client? If you are running the Bonic 4.03 client it wont work.

I had a simalar problem in that the big cp.net WU worked and crunched but the s@h WU's wouldnt even download. I updated the core client and no probs the cp.net crunches away pausing every now and again for a seti WU to process then it resumes the cp.net WU.

Sorry but this is about as technical as i can get!

Hope this helps!

Hi
the web link from the bonic Client - when you right click on the climate predition project in the PROJECTS tab of the client - sends you to the main climate prediction.net web page. Would it not be more appropriate to send you to the Cp.net Bonic main page instead?

Asides that its all looking good so far
keep up the good work

The ClimatePrediction WU models are calculated so slowly that you cannot watch them evolve through the model.
how about a feature that uses the WU info stored by BONIC prior to its transmition back to ClimatePrediction.net to produce a time accelerated animation of the model you have just created?

I dont know if this is achievable within BONIC itself or whether it would be best as an \"add on\" in the same vain as seti map viewer. Not being more \"techie\" than being able to turn my computer on and navigating around the net im not sure if this is \"easy\" or not!

Please let me know!

anyway what do you think? Most people like to get the numbers crunched - but its nice to keep track of your progress and see some fruits of you labour occasionally.
