HadCM3s post-completion artifacts
(Message 52382)
Posted 6 Aug 2015 by DJStarfox Post: I've recently reconnected to this project. The last 2 models that I've run were HadCM3s models. After completion and successful reporting, each model left behind a folder structure (in BOINC data directory) of 850MB. This is quickly consuming the allowed BOINC disk space, and other projects complain that there's not enough free disk space to download more work. Can the models or BOINC be configured to clean up this disk space after successful reporting? Or do I have to manually clear out these folders? ./boinc/projects/climateprediction.net/hadcm3s_a17h_1996_2_009904602 ./boinc/projects/climateprediction.net/hadcm3s_9srm_1986_2_009893663 |

Posted 15 Mar 2014 by DJStarfox Post: BigDave67, In your Computing Preferences, be sure to set "Leave tasks in memory while suspended?" = Yes. This will pause climate models when necessary but won't force them to unload from memory. This setting can save time and reduce the possibilities of errors if your machine switches from idle to busy frequently. Works for me; YMMV. |

(Message 44521)
Posted 13 Jul 2012 by DJStarfox Post: The only thing that looks interesting is the contents of the stderrgfx.txt file: Failed to load '/var/lib/boinc/projects/climateprediction.net/globe.jpg'. Failed to load '/var/lib/boinc/projects/climateprediction.net/eu.jpg'. These two lines repeat several times...and the two images referenced are there in the filesystem.... So, not sure why the graphics app can't read them.... Oh, and I do have libjpeg x86_64 and i686 installed.... libjpeg-turbo-1.1.1-1.fc14.i686 libjpeg-turbo-1.1.1-1.fc14.x86_64 Does the graphics program run as the boinc user account or as my account (logged in user)? I search file permissions just in case. |
