1) Questions and Answers : Windows : This workunit refuses to send trickles. (Message 19626)

Problem solved........

When the WU got to 20% the PC was supposed to send the mega-trickle of phase 1. Instead it got stuck at 20% and would not go forward although the WU was listed as \"running\". CPU time also wouldn\'t increase. Suspending, restarting, removing from memory, updating etc, etc, from BOINC had no effect.

So I eventually stopped and restarted the BOINC service from the control panel/services menu and this fixed the problem. The mega-trickle was sent, results of phase 1 appeared at the website and the PC has been sending trickles normally ever since. I also got all the credit I was supposed to.

As I said, the previous WU had crashed (I don\'t know why) and this apparently triggered this behavior. Never mind. I use the BOINC remote control capabilities very much to control PCs that are far from my location but it seems that still every once in a while one needs to sit on the PC console for maintenance.

Have a nice crunching day.

Thanks for the replies. This is a remote computer running BOINC as a service, so I have no graphics. I think I\'ll stop the service and restart from the control panel to see what happens. This computer crashed the previous model, loaded a new one and started having this problem. Suspending and restarting from BOINC (and removing from memory) had no effect.

As the PC is literally remote, it will take me some time to get a chance to do this. I\'ll let you guys know. Thanks again.

I have a sulphur WU running on a P2.66 for some time and it refuses to send trickles. When I click \"update\" on the project, BOINC will report \"Scheduler request succeeded\", the cp website will report that the computer contacted the cp server BUT it won\'t send trickles or claim credit. The WU is now 13.6% done and 0 trickles/credit.

The BOINC manager is v5.2.7. I have an identical PC on the same net with the same version of BOINC running sulphur and it will send trickles and get credit as expected.

Any ideas on this (could it be the model executable)?

Any help appreciated - thanks.

Hello folks, My name is Thanos and I am from Greece. This is my first post here.

I have been happily running cp for 4 months now and this is the first time I\'m having any kind of problem with it.

So lets get things from the beginning. OS is WIN 2000, BOINC version is 4.13. Because I use it on a couple of lab computers and I wouldn\'t like people to fool around with it I have in installed it as a service and I have disabled the \"interact with desktop\" tab.

Then I noticed that the slab model, although configured as a lowest priority background process, interferes with the startup of a certain piece of software we use in the lab. So I changed my preferences from \"run all the time\" to \"when computer is not used\" and I put a 10 minute interval before the model restarts.

When I run BOINC from the GUI it works fine. But on the computers that run BOINC as a service, once interrupted, it never restarts, not even after 24 hours.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance for your time and help. (Greece is set to become a desert area if climate warms up, by the way...)
