1) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Reclaim my old account? (Message 58181)
Posted 11 May 2018 by Profile tiker
Post:
Perfect! That link is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

I'm glad BOINC doesn't have the option to delete accounts yet. I probably wouldn't have been able to get it back.

Hopefully they add an account flag: "Don't delete my account if inactive." with a description "I am aware of the GDPR rules and give permission CPDN to keep my account even if inactive."

Anyways, thanks again for your assistance. :)

The trickle checkpoint is every 10802 timesteps. The write-to-disk (saving current progress) checkpoint is every 144 timesteps.

Since the preferences were last updated, there's now 2 areas in the boinc user preferences for the forums signature and the "url in new window" options. I think the original signature options should be removed since the new addition has the new signature preview with it but I'm not sure which one is actually being used on the forums.

&gt; Can someone tell me how to put sigs for CPDN and SETI side by side please.

Do you mean like mine below, or all in 1 image? If you want them like mine, then you need to use multiple IMG tags, one for each image. If you want them all in a single image, <A HREF="http://www.boinc.dk">boinc.dk</A> is the only site that I know of currently offering it, but it's still in testing phase from what I understand.

It's the new time sharing features of boinc 4.x clients.

What is currently happening is every 1 hour, boinc pauses the crunching for one project (preempt) and crunches a work unit from another project. After 1 hour again, it'll preempt that work unit and will to to the third project (or back to the first project if you're only attached to 2).

This way, those seti work units don't sit in your queue for 2 months waiting for the cpdn work unit to finish.

&gt; Hi all,
&gt;
&gt; I have to revert to the HTML stats as host information has now been included
&gt; in the user XML files (bug??).
&gt;
&gt; I will try to update the XML parsing script over the next few days.
&gt;
&gt; Neil.

My xml to database scripts are also failing now because of the host information included in the user.xml file.

Any chance the hosts can be removed from the user.xml file again?

EDIT: I've re-written my xml import scipt to handle the computer host information in the user.xml file so I'm good. :)

You should be able to just delete the entire directory with the 3.x client. The GUI won't work at the moment for 4.x because the RPC stuff doesn't seem to work. If you just want to remove seti from the 3.x client without deleting the entire client, just use the "-detach_project [setiurl]" paramater when starting the boinc 3.x client.

From what I've read, most of the problems the other projects have had (other than hardware / network problems) is problems dealing with the number of work units distributed, validated, etc. CPDN should work better since there's less work units to validate in a day.

Hopefully, new problems won't be created using boinc 4.x server / client.

&gt; I cant get the pre-compiled BOINC to work on my linux box:-

&gt; boinc.berkeley.edu but they dont have the 4.02 version there, or if they do I
&gt; cant find it.
&gt;
&gt; Martin

I'm not a linux guru or anything but I've found that the library is part of newer distros of linux. I have Redhat 7.2 installed on two systems at home, one being a fairly recent install, and one that's been customized and upgraded with parts of other linux distros. The recently installed version needed a different library to run and got that running fine. The older install is asking for the same library which I found in a RPM package for Redhat 8 and up, but requries a lot of other packages upgraded as well.

I haven't upgraded it yet but will get to it soon. Check out <A HREF="http://rpmfind.net">RPMFind.net</A> (my favorite linux library site), copy / paste "libstdc++.so.5" into the search field and see if there's a .RPM package for your distro. You will need other library upgrades to get it installed without problems.

Should look like this when it's done - if not, just view the html source for this post. <IMG SRC="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/cpdn/stats.php?userID=4">
