Win2k instable when running BOINC CPDN (sulphur cycle errors)
(Message 18337)
Posted 18 Dec 2005 by old_user34461 Post: I have exactlythe same situation here. Running W2K SP4, Boinc 5.2.13, subscribed to Seti@home and CPDN. CPDN keeps crashing with the same error: 2005-12-17 14:08:32 [climateprediction.net] Resuming result sulphur_glop_000774601_0 using sulphur_cycle version 422 2005-12-17 14:08:32 [SETI@home] Pausing result 22no04aa.209.6289.579834.228_0 (left in memory) 2005-12-17 14:38:27 [---] Can\'t open temp state file: client_state_next.xml 2005-12-17 14:38:27 [---] Couldn\'t write state file: system fopen 2005-12-17 14:39:27 [SETI@home] Result 22no04aa.209.6289.579834.228_0 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file 2005-12-17 14:39:27 [SETI@home] If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 2005-12-17 14:39:27 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: process exited 2005-12-17 14:39:27 [climateprediction.net] Computation for result sulphur_glop_000774601_0 finished 2005-12-17 14:39:27 [SETI@home] Restarting result 22no04aa.209.6289.579834.228_0 using setiathome version 411 To eliminate HDD failure, I will install Boinc on an other HDD and see , what happens. SETI and CPDN Ressource share
(Message 16126)
Posted 19 Sep 2005 by old_user34461 Post: If you have a sulfur cycle model it may cause the client to go into EDF mode or no work fetch, due to tighter deadlines. In either case it will adjust by not downloading another CPDN model for some time after it finishes the current one. Computer was not overcommitted. Inceasing Seti\'s share did the trick. A ratio of 1:3 seems to work now. Many thanks for the help |

Seti does not download any new WU\'s , although queue is empty. CDPN model\'s due date is August 2006, so there is plenty of time to finish and no need for \"panic mode\" as I see it. Seti and CPDN get both 50% of CPU cycles, but Seti does not fill up it\'s queue again, after it run dry. |

Posted 17 Sep 2005 by old_user34461 Post: Well , first of all , I\'m new to CPDN. Got my first Model. I set up everything to my best knowledge, including resource share. Both programs are switching correctly, but it seems, that SETI will empty his queue without downloading new WU\'s. What is going wrong? |
