I have the same problem. On a hyperthreaded processor, both models have crashed within a few days of each other, again with the Windows bug report box. My Windows info is the same as Hugo's but I'm running BOINC 4.19

Also just noticed the message on my BOINC screen. Suspended and exited BOINC, applied the update and restarted in a couple of minutes. No problems.

Likewise, no problems on my laptop with this build of ZA and BOINC 4.13 If you install ZA as an upgrade, it will pick up your old security settings.

I'm still not able to get access to the "old" CPDN Community Space. My bookmarked URL fails and I get redirected to the main site. ok.

When I go there, I see a title "Discussion Group for Participants"... clicking that link give me a 404 error. Tried clearing cache etc. but the error persists.

I appreciate you guys have had major problems, but a brief explanation of the status would be helpful.

Thanks... I can confirm it is working on two of my systems which had failed to make a connection after being re-booted. The third system that was on 24/7 never lost the connection.

It is not your system that is at fault, there seems to be a problem with the BOINC server. Take a look at this thread http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=1382

Indeed... two of my systems which were shutdown overnight are now failing to connect to the scheduler.

2004-12-07 08:33:01 [climateprediction.net] Master file parse failed
2004-12-07 08:33:01 [climateprediction.net] Could not contact any schedulers for http://climateprediction.net/.

2004-12-07 08:33:01 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 45 minutes and 32 seconds

But the one that is left on 24/7 is still able to connect.

Again, no problem... tried several succesive manual updates on all systems and all got through.

2004-12-06 21:21:16 [climateprediction.net] Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
2004-12-06 21:21:19 [climateprediction.net] Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded

I'm running BOINC 4.13 on XP Home/Pro & Windows 2000, as installed by BOINC/CPDN. (All at latest service pack levels).

Seems to be a pretty strange problem... but then, the idiosincracies of computers and Windows (in particular) kept me in gainful employment for 30 years :)

Nope, manual updates still working fine... three different systems, no problem.
Updates done at 20:48 UK time.

> the P4 is an energy killer. You won't need a radiator in your flat anymore if it runs 7/24.

You are absolutely right there... a recently rebuilt system with a P4 3.6GHz processor and a couple of hi-speed SATA drives pumps out so much heat in my study I've been able to turn the radiator off!

"I have almost 600 hours in on this WU, with another 180 to go (about). I've heard of a lot of problems with upgrading to a newer version of CP mid-way thru a WU, so I'm going to wait until this run is complete before getting the next version."

I've recently upgraded three systems (XP Home, XP Pro & Windows 2000) to 4.13, mid-run with no problems. Simply suspend and exit BOINC, install the upgrade and restart. BOINC will report the software upgrade, run the benchmarks and restart.

I've seen this on my three systems this morning. Manual update works and the stats are updating ok.
