Thanks for your reply Andrew. The BOINC Wiki is very useful.

To CP admin
I\'m hoping that CP.net can maybe consider adding an option where users can choose to auto-delete old work units. or at the very least, warn people who sign up. The take over of hard drive space by CP is certainly not what I expected & I don\'t expect to have to manage CP to recover my disk space, when BOINC manager is expected to do just that.

Thank you for your post. From the Wiki info, I was able to delete the directories & am now crunching again.

I\'m concerned why CP stores used data on my pc, when my wife\'s pc which is configured in the same way does not store this old data.

In addition, I\'m very concerned that if I had a farm of computers running CP, I would have a regular job to manually remove the finished directories on each computer to ensure that disk space usage is acceptable.

Thank you for your reply.

My issue is that there should be no CP units on my computer, but that CP is using over 2gb of disk space. Once units are uploaded, should BOINC remove the old completed units or are the old units simply left on the computer? In addition, there also appear to be old exe & zip files in the CP directory.

Why would I need to copy CP files to a CD? Is there a purpose in keeping old CP files?

BOINC v5.2.6

I have no CP units running & no CP units waiting to upload, but my BOINC disk status reports that CP is using 2.13gb of disk space. I am therefore getting a message that work is available but units cannot download due to low disk space (see below). How can I fix this?

I have a small network with an SBS2003 server running ISA proxy. I upgraded my server this morning from SBS2000 to SBS 2003 & now the proxy settings in BOINC do not work any more. I have kept the same server name.

Can anyone help please?

I have also had big problems with v4.09. I uninstalled & then installed v4.05 which I am running with no probs - apart from not being able to run Seti wus any more.

PIV 3.2gHz HT, 1gb dual ch RAM, Win XP Pro SP2.

>

That's a good point. However v4.09 is unstable on my system, it simply will not run. I now have both network pcs running v4.05 problem free - apart from no Seti units. I'll wait for a new version before trying an upgrade again. BTW My processor is running in HT mode.

> Unfortunately, the only way of recovering a WU in this situation is from a
> backup. Given the problems a few people have experienced in upgrading, the
> advice has to be to make a backup of the entire BOINC directory before
> upgrading, and regularly besides. If things go wrong, it should then be a
> simple matter of copying the directory back.

Thanks for your reply

I was about half way through a 400 hour climateprediction work unit & upgraded from BOINC v4.05 to 4.09. After the upgrade, my BOINC software hung. I have now managed to downgrade back to v4.05 but my cimateprediction work unit is gone & the software is .02% though a new work unit.

Is my old work unit lost?

Hi
I upgraded from 4.05 to 4.09 the the gui client now hangs. Checking task manager, the processes still appear to be running. I tried to reinstall 4.05, but it had no effect - the install didn\'t seem to start.

System: PIV 3.2, 1gb RAM, 80gb available hdd space, Win XP Pro SP2.
