OK, I managed to sort out the issue. We are running Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition on out network here. I upgraded the client on this machine from version 9.x to 10.x and the problem stopped occurring.

We were in the middle of rolling out the newer version of the antivirus clients.

I hope this answer helps someone else out there with the same issue.

Possibly your firewall or proxy server has changed.
I think that firewall ports changed between BOINC versions 4.19 and 4.55. (Or there abouts.)

I am using version 4.45, I thought that was the latest version. Where can I get version 4.55?

I am not using a firewall on the machine in question. We have a sitewide firewall for the network here but it is not affecting most of the other BOINC installations I have running (there are about 8 or so of them).

I am not using a proxy.

Any other suggestions?

On several of my PC\'s i am getting this error, I have tried many things to get around it but no success. I tried reinstalling BOINC, the file stderrgui.txt contains the following line:

already tried both ports, giving up

Can anyone suggest a solution?

I am having the same problem. It seems that my edits are being stored somewhere as they appear in the "edit team info" form, but they are not reflected on the team page.

I accidently added "http://" at the front of my terams URL and now it shows up as "http://http://www.newcastlemusic.net.au/". This is all I want to change but I seem unable to do so.
