1) Message boards : Number crunching : trickle credits question (Message 22349)

Why is the trickle credit lower for coupled models compared to Slab models? The Slab model was spot on when comparing CPU time with other BOINC projects. It seems to be lower by about 9%.

Account creation has again reopened. They are looking to increase the user base another 2000 to reach a 10,000 total user base.

From their front page:
22.7.2005 12:16 UTC
The new server has no problems keeping up with the load of the new users, so we will open up for another 2000. Have a nice weekend.

For a long time , I had only participated in CPDN-Boinc.
After some time I added SETI-Boinc with only 10% daily usage.
During that time, I did not pay attention to any difference about credits given
by each project. I figured they were about the same for equal amounts of CPU usage.

Now that LHC and Einstein are up and running, I have joined them also. I placed Einstein 60% and divided the other three among the remaining 40%. To my surprise, I notice after a few days that the graphs showing my total BOINC credits was climbing at a higher rate than when I only had CPDN & SETI.

That when I started looking at the average hourly rate of credit for each of my four projects. I found that SETI, LHC, and Einstein had about the same rate but CPDN's rate was about 69% of the others.

Does anyone know why CPDN grants credits at such a low rate?

Einstein@Home was officially launched this morning at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting in Washington, DC, USA. "

There is a new kid on the block.
The family of BOINC is now a little BIGGER!!!

Uncle Albert would be proud.

Thanks, Dave, for the detailed discription of what is taking place. I would say that few of us involved in CPDN have ever been involved in science at such a cutting edge like it is here. Just to know that the boundries of science can be pushed forward by the work our computers at home are doing is exciting in it'self. To know that we are adding to a knowledge base, by our little efforts (huge when all participants are added together)that will help create a better understanding of our climate, makes us all first rate scientists of the ilk that we have only read about in our past. To create a better climate model takes time and data. We are helping to supply this data and the folks at CPDN have the biggest chore: sifting through mountains of data to find the answer. Seems to me that there has never been enough data to really push climate prediction forward very far before CPDN. We will supply the data and you can have fun finding a better understanding of our climate.

CPDN ------> pushing forward the understanding of climate prediction!!!!

I see that some sigs have a RAC rating. What is that?
