However, I think there is another oddity. I suspect that the double recording of Trickles is also doubling our credit!

Climate warming began 180 years ago
An international research project has found human-induced climate change is first detectable in the Arctic and tropical oceans around the 1830s, earlier than expected.
That's about half a century before the first comprehensive instrumental records began – and about the time Dickens began his novels depicting Victorian Britain's rush to industrialise.
The findings, published on Thursday in the journal Nature, were based on natural records of climate variation in the world's oceans and continents, including those found in corals, ice cores, tree rings and the changing chemistry of stalagmites in caves.
Helen McGregor, an ARC future fellow at the University of Wollongong and one of the paper's lead authors, said it was "quite a surprise" the international research teams of dozens of scientists had been able to detect a signal of climate change emerging in the tropical oceans and the Arctic from the 1830s.
"Nailing down the timing in different regions was something we hadn't expected to be able to do," Dr McGregor told Fairfax Media.
Interestingly, the change comes sooner to northern climes, with regions such as Australasia not experiencing a clear warming signal until the early 1900s (see chart).
Nerilie Abram, another of the lead authors and an associate professor at the Australian National University's Research School of Earth Sciences, said greenhouse gas levels rose from about 280 parts per million in the 1830s to about 295 ppm by the end of that century. They now exceed 400 ppm.
Understanding how humans were already altering the composition of the atmosphere through the 19th century means the warming is closer to the 1.5 to 2 degrees target agreed at last year's Paris climate summit than most people realise.
"We are only talking about a small effect during the 19th century because the increases in greenhouse gases were small compared to the very rapid changes that we see today," Dr Abram said.
"But when you combine that with the fact we're already frighteningly close to that 1.5 degrees target [compared with pre-industrial levels], then even adding a little bit extra human contribution makes a difference."

Just a quick comment about Windows 10 that may help.
I have been using Win10 for over a year (starting with the preview). The only problem I have had in running BOINC is that after a Restart of the computer, I need to start BOINC Manager using "Run as Administrator" from the drop down menu when I right-click on the icon for BOINC.

I have Win10 Pro version and although it automatically downloads the Windows updates, it does not automatically install them. Instead it offers to do that later (usually "Tomorrow at 3am"), or I can change the time to something I prefer, or I can click a Restart button to do it immediately.

Thanks again Les.

My Trickle-ups have now been granted credit.

It also appears that the Credit Script has run and my Total Credit has updated since last night.

I thought that the Credit Script was going to be run weekly on a Saturday, but it seems to have run on a Sunday last week and this.

But several regions going down at the same time should point to a common route/problem surely?

Oh, and my trickles have not been giving me credit since Thursday either.

I also note that the credit script did not run yesterday (Saturday)

Funny you should say that.

I've "lost" about 2 million credits myself, but since others have lost more - I've jumped up several places with my Top Computers total, and around 20 places with my Top Participants total.

For a few days I've reached positions I will never reach in real Computational Life.
Ed

PS Because I cannot start a new thread, I mention in passing that the afr50 batch seems to have a lot of Computation Errors.

I'm running at 75% CPUs (6 tasks)during the day and 100% CPUs (8 Tasks)during the night on my Win 10 64bit i7.

One WAH2 failed having trickled once.
Another WAH2 failed after 8 trickles.
Both failed during the day, so not at 100% CPus.

The other WAH2s are at 70% completion.

I was looking at my (diminishing) daily average credit and wondering why that was not being added to the total.

I can now see what I had forgotten - that Trickles are the key.

Thanks for the reminder. I hope this not a sign that senility has started!

I have 6 of these tasks running on my i7 Computer.
Estimated time for the tasks was 122 hours but 9% has taken 19 hours for the first task, so they will probably take just over 200 hours.
First trickle at about 9%,

I have 2 more tasks at 8.4%, so they should send a first trickle soon.

Thanks for that insight.

It may not be the version that is important, just that I update the version I have.
I suspect with the updating, CPDN would take a fresh look at my computer and recognise Windows 10.

I'm always slow to update the BOINC version until I know that it is not causing "problems" for CPDN. Are there any problems with version 7.6.9?

Again, I know you want to ask - So why did I update to Windows 10 so quickly?

Put it down to disliking Windows 8.1 and using the Insider previews to find that Windows 10 was better for me.

When I look at CPDN results for my computer I see that CPDN still registers my computer as running Windows 8.1 Pro, but I've been running Windows 10 since last August.

Is there some way to update that?

I know - it is not particularly important, but my curiousity has woken up!

Thank you Les, I assumed that was the case, but I wondered if it had been reported.

Yes, the weekend again, then there will be the announced Monday shut down, so I guess it will be another week before things get back to "normal" (whatever that is?).
