I have a few machines also running 4.43 .. (and one up to 4.45) .. Yes, there seem to be a little problem with CPDN but it's not that serious .. I haven't experienced the other issues in geophi's thread link.

BTW: Brian: you're a dude! I like your dry profile! (OK, I've got some spare time!) Have fun!

What does this message mean? I\'m running BOINC Client 4.43 on Windows 2000 - There doesn\'t appear to be anything wrong.

7) Questions and Answers : Windows : Windows Sockets Interface Error on BOINC 4.13 (Message 5425)

Post:
> This typically means that two instances of BOINC are running at the same time.

YES, THANKS FOR THE ANSWER. I had posted this question on the SETI Message boards, and have yet to receive a reply.. Here's my further explanation:

During the installation of the V4.13 Client, I had the installer add the icon the startup folder.

On Windows 2000, you have two startup folders..

1. one for all users,
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu

2. the other for individual user(s):
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\LOGGED_IN_USER\Start Menu

Since I had a BOINC Client icon in my user startup and the installer put one in the all users startup .. It resulted in TWO BOINC CLIENTS running in startup .. the second Client starup reports the error, and terminates.

8) Questions and Answers : Windows : boinc 4.09 doesn\'t do \"time slicing\" anymore? (Message 4687)
Posted 26 Sep 2004 by Profile Brian Uitti
Post:
I've got no problem either .. Three Windows 2000 machines running the three projects on 4.09 BOINC client ..

You might check your "Projects" tab .. right click & update on each project.. see how the percentage resources update. .. then login to each project and go into "edit project preferences" .. and to a "courtesy" Save on exiting on each one.. (maybe tweek the numbers around .. just for fun!) .. then update your projects again on the client.

Lastly:

Make sure that the client is set to "run based on preferences" .. under the "file" menu option..

Yep, you're right.. I attempted to run on 4.07 .. got the same Visual Fortran error

> > Thanks, I have a WinME machine running with difficulties as well. I'll
> try
> > some of your suggestions later today!
> >

>
> Err...what suggestions? You probably won't be able to run CPDN on your WinME
> machine yet. Someone had success with the 4.06 version of BOINC, but he seems
> to be the only one. Besides, finding this particular version might be
> difficult since the download link mentioned in one of the threads doesn't work
> anymore. Hopefully Carl gets the problem fixed this week.

Looks like there's a compatibility problem with Windows ME. I downloaded & installed 4.05 .. CP runs for a while and crashes with an ugly error code dump!

The "latest" from SETI .. "August 28, 2004 - The migration plan has been reschedule for tomorrow the 29th at 10am PDT."

I guess we'll have to "pick one project" to run for one more day!
