(Message 9813) Posted 23 Feb 2005 by old_user22767 Post: I just pinged uploader1.atm.ox.ac.uk the request times out, no reply. so indeed the server is either down or offline (or both). at http://status.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ there's a link to http://networks.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ (resolves to draco.oucs.ox.ac.uk) which gives no reply either. So my guess would be, that there's some kind of failure in the university network, thus disconnecting uploader1 from the web. in this case the CPDN team could do nothing but wait until the problem in the infrastructure was fixed (eg. a faulty high speed router replaced, etc.) somewhat like 2 or 3 years ago seti@home witnessed a hispeed link severed by scavengers! the project was down for more than 2 weeks.
