Is there any way to get the laptop work to report into the account on the desk top?

This is all automaticly done by the user/server software. All you can/need to do is let the trickles get to the server.

If you\'re up to 2.13%, then there should be trickles showing on the account, and there will be a mention in the messages log file of them having been sent. (stdoutdae.txt)

So the trickles must still be on your computer, and can\'t get out to the net, and thence to the server.

The name will be: trickle_up_hadcm3pbb_bo97_0587622_[long-string-of-numbers].
The string of numbers is the date/time stamp of each file.

These files will be in: C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\climateprediction.net

Either the trickles have been sent, in which case there would have been a message saying this, and they would show on the server,
or
They haven\'t been sent, in which case they will be visible on your computer.

One thing that I forgot to include in my first post, although it should be set to this by default:

4) If you run multiple projects, then you should set the option: Leave applications in memory while suspended? to yes.
(This is found under General preferences, which is on your Account page on the server.
Having it set to no will mean every time this project gets swapped with another project, or is pre-empted by another program requiring a lot of memory, (and you don\'t have much of that), then the calculations to date will be discarded. If the option is set to yes, then the data gets saved to the swap file on the hard disk for a while.

As it is, I\'m beginning to suspect that the 160 hours that you\'ve spent have been a waste of time. It would seem that your program has just been calculating the same section of model time over and over, as it never gets to a checkpoint.
(Your \"car\" is in a large patch of mud, and is just spinning it\'s wheels.) :(

You can check on this by looking at the info on the globe display, as per my first post. Part of this is the percentage of the model that you\'ve calulated so far.
The first trickle is at about 0.67%, and if it still hasn\'t reached this, (it shouldn\'t take more than 24-36 hours), then you need to make some changes in the usage of the computer, or give up.

To copy the messages over here:

* Go to the \'projects\' tab, press the \'update\' button
* Go to the \'messages\' tab, click on the \'copy all messages\' button
* Reply here, right-click and \'paste\'

You only get credits if you return trickles, which you don\'t seem to be doing.
And only you can see what the program is doing on your computers.

If the models are running, it will say this under Status, in the Tasks tab of the manager window.

If trickle_up files ARE being created but not sent, then they will be accumulating in the folder with the model\'s name, which will be under the climateprediction.net folder.

There are certain conditions that must be met to progress with this project:
1) the computer must be above a certain speed,
2) there must be a certain minimum amount of memory,
3) the modelling program must be allowed to run for a certain minimum amount of time, to allow the modsel(s) to reach a \'checkpoint\', which is when the data gets saved. If they don\'t reach this checkpoint, then the next time the computer is started, the model will start from the beginning again.

There is a countdown time in the graphics display of the model, which shows how long to this checkpoint. (It runs from 432 to 0.)
To be able to see this counter, as well as other info about the model, you need to remove the overlay on the left of the display, by pressing the Z key.
Additionally, you need to press 8 to see the timer.

If trickle_up files are accumulating, then you may have set the Network activity option to off. Or you may have a problem with your firewall blocking the ports needed by BOINC, which are 80, (the same as web browsers), and 31416.
