I was taking a rest from CPDN until some new WU came along, but I accidentally downloaded two units when I absentmindedly pressed Allow New Tasks on 28 March and 21 April. So I now have a 5.15 model which has done 4% and an Optimised 5.40 model.

I have a dual CPU machine but would like to keep one CPU for other projects.

Would it be better to let the 5.15 run to completion or Abort it and start the 5.40?

Thanks

....as backing up workunits is no help if a system dies or -- what a concept, one upgrades to NEW hardware sometime during that year (since workunits don\'t xfer to new h/w) ....

Hi

I transferred to new hardware and the WU were perfectly happy.

4) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc 5.8.8 - Is it safe to rename my Climate Change folder? (Message 26523)

Stop BOINC.
Uninstall.
Rename/move folder.
Reinstall over new name/folder.

Thanks.

I feel much happier with only one correctly labelled folder.

5) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc 5.8.8 - Is it safe to rename my Climate Change folder? (Message 26518)

Hi

When I upgraded to 5.8.8 my Climate Change folder did not change names - long story, but at one stage I had two installations, one, recently unused one, in a BOINC folder (which I have just deleted) and one in the Climate Change folder which I have been using and which I have just upgraded. (MikeMarsUK and Les Bayliss helped me to sort this out in http://bbc.cpdn.org/forum_thread.php?id=4843)

As I am now also crunching Malaria Control can I just rename the \"Climate Change\" folder to \"BOINC\", or will that confuse the BOINC Manager?

Thanks

6) Message boards : Cafe CPDN : Screen saver (Message 26360)

Hi Chris

My screensaver has done something similar recently. I can get mine started again by pressing T or C, which brings the colours back and THEN pressing S which starts globe rotation and sometimes I need to press L to switch off the daylight rotation. After that it seems to work normally until the next time I open the graphics.

I don\'t use the screensaver all the time because it uses processor power and slows the project down, but open it occasionally using the Show Graphics button to check the progress of the model.

I have no idea why it suddenly started doing this. I did wonder whether some other programme might have installed an update which affected BOINC or the graphics.

HTH

Tricia
