1) Message boards : Number crunching : Server Status page questions (Message 68611)

I think the answer to the original question is, "the server page is not accurate".

For example, the number of tasks in progress under the Computing Status indicates, 45689, whereas the sum of the tasks in progress by application is 25755.

The figures do change periodically, but I think that it is pointless to speculate what they really mean because we don't know what happens behind the scenes.

Suffice to say that it would be useful for admin to have a tidy up and publish a statement about what's happening both with individual applications and the project as a whole.

Re previous observations on OIFS uploads failing, I now have well over a week's worth of pending uploads across two Ubuntu virtual machines - between 500 and 1,000 in all. No storage problems at my end yet, but they are only virtual, and do only have a fraction of a real SSD each. Do we have any news on when uploads might resume?

This might be a slightly different problem.

I have four streams running (four concurrent processes). Credit appears to be added via trickle once a week or so, and appears in the BOINC manager app (Linux). But it's not being accumulated on any of the public aggregators, such as BAM. 20/09/21 is the last recorded update - BAM shows my score as 1,896,338. I've had tasks running continuously since then, so BOINC manager shows my credit to be 2,057,192.

Any thoughts?

That will happen automatically when they time out.
Or sooner when the researchers have enough data and close that batch.

And if some tasks in a batch don't get returned soon enough for the researchers, they can issue another batch with replacement tasks.

Thanks.

A long time after the fact ...

I run Linux VMs on my Mac Mini. Earlier this week, one of the VMs, which had ten tasks on it, suffered a catastrophic failure (apparently caused by the Mac virus checker hanging the hardware). I was unable to restart the VM, so had to bin it.

There appears to be no way to notify CPDN that all incomplete/errored tasks for machine 1507532 need to be reallocated. It seems a waste to let them hang in the ether until the deadline, in September 2021.

(but not machine 1511336 - those are running fine).
