Perfectly normal ... if you crunch 24/7 it will take around 5 weeks to complete one WU with your P4 1.9 GHz computer.

Happy crunching!

&gt; Ok, great start, but the Merge page does not show me any other machines to
&gt; select. I do get an empty page with the radio buttons "select all", "Unselect
&gt; all" and "Merge Host", but that's all.
&gt;
&gt; What next?!?!

Do <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=43256">host#43256</a> and <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=60125">host#60125</a> have the same computer name? If you have changed your computer name recently (yesterday) you will not be able to merge your hosts.

Just merge your two hosts together. You can do this in one of your Computer Summary webpage (http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=xxxx where xxxx is one of the host ID of your computer).

Guys,

Have you check/upgrade your video card OpenGL drivers? Most of the video problems are related to this.

Hope this may help!

30) Message boards : Number crunching : How does BOINC work with dialup? (Message 3826)
Posted 11 Sep 2004 by belgix
Post:
I don't have any problem to run BOINC with a dial-up connection but I have a secret. I'm using <a href="//www.netcplus.com">Browsegate 3</a> to control my phone line access. Browsegate is an all in one Firewall/DNS &amp; DHCP server/NAT server/ HTTP proxy &amp; it's free if your have less than 4 computers on your home/personal network.

You can configure it to dial automatically and disconnect the phone line after "X" minutes of inactivity. Ten minutes it's fine for me but you can reduce the time as needed. Very reliable.

Browsegate is also designed to works with any TCP/IP internet connection (ADSL &amp; cable modem).

Your client_state.xml has been corrupted before the installation of BOINC 4.08 (e.g. at the shutdown of BOINC 4.07). BOINC 4.08 is running fine on my laptop.

&gt;is there anyway to get it to recognise the old wus since they are still on the machine in the projects folder.

Not really possible.

&gt; I think the beta test machines may be the most affected, since that's when the
&gt; feeder bug was present (I think it was discovered/fixed right before the
&gt; "launch"). I'm hoping it won't be too bad though.

You may be right Carl, I was one the CPDN beta tester.

&gt; an upgrade of BOINC software had messed up the credits, so I am running a
&gt; "recalculation" query based on trickles to get everyone the proper credits.

The problem with the missing credits may be related to a problem of a lost of some trickles in the database since the upgrade of the BOINC software.

Few weeks ago, I merged "Host ID" #181 with "Host ID" #1245. With host #181, I crunched 421525 seconds on <a href="//climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=4652">WU 4652</a>. My computer also sent 11 trickles for this WU.

Now the status of <a href="//climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=4652">WU 4652</a> is still active, CPDN server had lost all trickles previously sent even if 421525 seconds of processing is still in the WU records.

This "lost" may explains some missing credits!

Take a look at this <a href="//climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=326&amp;post=2331#2331">thread</a>. It seems that CPDN have compatibility problems with NT4 and Windows 98.

Me too I had some problem with apps using InstallShield v5 on my OS. If you had previously ran BOINC v3 you can decompress the cabinet file \\Disk1\\data1.cab into your %ProgramFiles%\\BOINC directory &amp; thereafter move the file Boinc.scr to your Windows directory.

To decompress the Installshield cabinet your may need i5comp utility if your compression/decompression tool is not able to handle Installshield cabinet file. i5comp.exe is available at this <a href="//protools.anticrack.de/decompilers.htm">site</a>.
