1) Message boards : Cafe CPDN : Is that really okay to left the default testing page like this? (Message 60160)

Won't it be better if we can make it jump to the default page of https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/ ?

The Earth's surface is divided up into cubes; in this case the horizontal resolution is 50 Kilometers across.

Thanks.

The name of the task tells you what it's doing. In your case, they're sam50's, so South America, at 50 K resolution.

50k resolution... Could you please tell me more about what exactly does that 5E+05 means?

Which at present is faulty. I'll report that.

Thanks.

The models used to have this type graphics several years ago, but, they were removed because it was felt that they were to much work to keep updated. They were nice.

...Sorry.

I asked a similar question on the WCG forum, and got an detailed answer:

So, as you can see, the answer is no. Numerical computation is, well, quite a delicate thing...
5) Questions and Answers : Wish list : LZMA2 (7zip) compression of transferred data files (Message 60149)
Posted 16 May 2019 by Heuristic0667
Post:
The uploaded file is already compressed in zip format / Deflate compression algorithm, the compression rate(compressed file size/original data size) is about 66.09%.
During my own compress test, compressing using LZMA2 with "best quality" and "solid" configured achieved a better (but not MUCH better) compression rate (53.74%), and the CPU time used in the compression process is much more(11 seconds for DEFLATE, and 41.9 seconds for LZMA2, tested on i7-6500U).
6) Questions and Answers : Wish list : A Raspberry Pi 3 BOINC + Climate Model ! ARM is UK Tech! (Message 60147)

Post:
Nah... Most people just do what they need to do on the Rpi, for them BOINC is totally unnecessary to be included in the default distribution.

Wish to add graphical application in the next application update, and, if possible, tell us what the current task is doing(what part of the climate prediction is my computer doing)?
8) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Running BOINC under WINE (Message 60145)

You would need a license to run a Windows VM? Not quite.

Microsoft provided several VMs to make it easier for webmasters and website engineers to complete testing tasks over their websites. Use of this VM is quite legal, and you can always revert to a snapshot before its first power on. And, as you may already know, you can insert more virtual disks for you to store BOINC data there, to avoid losing data and current progress.

This is quite legal, it's stated on its website:https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/

In fact, you can use this script to "deactivate" and "rearm" this copy of windows several times before it finally expire, and use this copy for another 90 days.

slmgr.vbs /upk
slmgr.vbs /rearm
shutdown -r -t 30
echo.Restarting Windows in 30 seconds to complete the Rearm process...
pause
