Posted 5 Apr 2007 by old_user198 Post: Sounds like you\'ve got a corrupt or missing account file Tim. Excellent advice. Thanks. It was the sched_request_climateprediction.net.xml file, which had picked up the wrong hostid. Cheers Tim |

Posted 3 Apr 2007 by old_user198 Post: I\'ve got a work unit that\'s nearing completion (2076). However, I\'m concerned that it will not be able to send its results to the server, because whenever it tries I get the following messages. It then carries on regardless.
Any suggestions? Should I change anything? Or sit back and hope for the best? Cheers Tim |

CPDN doesn\'t play nicely with Real Player
(Message 17347)
Posted 23 Nov 2005 by old_user198 Post: real alternative instead Thanks - that works - much cleaner than RealPlayer - I never really like that, especially when it wasted weeks of work. And their technical support was almost non-existent.Took me ages to find the culprit, though. So, thanks for your help Cheers Tim |

CPDN doesn\'t play nicely with Real Player

Posted 24 Oct 2005 by old_user198 Post: Whenever I start listening to streaming audio with RealPlayer, my model crashes. It does this for sulphur_cycle 4.19 and BOINC client 4.45, generating the following error: climateprediction.net 24/10/2005 23:18:10 Unrecoverable error for result 30e8_100162369_1 ( - exit code -5 (0xfffffffb)) Starting RealPlayer also causes Prime95 to crash, so I realise it is not specifically a problem with CPDN, but hoped someone here may be able to help. Other applications (including MS Media player) run fine, as does Prime95 the rest of the time. Cheers Tim |

why is it so hard to run it?
(Message 16313)
Posted 28 Sep 2005 by old_user198 Post: i changed the disk space now to 1 GB. so what can i do to not run a sulphur cycle? why didn´t it run with the best preferences for my pc all alone? is it normal that it now uses 193,12 MB of my 80 GB disk-space? I changed mine to Disk and memory usage to \"Use no more than 0.9 GB disk space\", forced an update from the BOINC client, then crashed the model. (Easy - just start RealPlayer!). When it re-started, it downloaded a non-sulphur model (just after midnight, as I\'d already used up my quote of model crashes for the day). Cheers, Tim |

Posted 27 Sep 2005 by old_user198 Post: Hi, I\'ve also got this problem. The sulphur model on my WinXP box always crashes when I start listening to streaming audio using the RealPlayer plugin for Firefox. This didn\'t seem to happen before I switched to the sulphur cycle, so I\'m trying to switch back following soho\'s suggestions. I\'ll keep you posted. Posted 5 Aug 2004 by old_user198 Post: I had a similar problem: climateprediction.net - 2004-08-06 00:19:20 - Message from server: No work available (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated) I went into change my preference on the website (took me ages to find that). Although I had the default allocation of 200GB, its default was not to do work while the computer was in use. I unchecked this, an told the project to 'Update' in the BOINC project window. Now it's busy downloading a new model. |
