New Tasks not being snapped up
(Message 47036)
Posted 13 Sep 2013 by Professor Desty Nova Post: ... but just wondered if CPDN couldn't email all active accounts with a gentle reminder that lots of tasks are awaiting their attention. I don't know how it works from the project side, but they could try using the BOINC Notices tab... I also think that the project warnings/news posted in the "News and Announcements" thread should appear there. |

Prevent BOINC requesting GPU work ?
(Message 45071)
Posted 12 Oct 2012 by Professor Desty Nova Post: There are projects that don't have GPU work, but indicate that they don't have GPU work to the BOINC client (they must have a newer server code). You can see this in the project properties, scheduling section as "Don't fetch work for ATI/NVIDIA GPU -> Project has no apps for ATI/NVIDIA GPU". I would also like to know how to do this manually for projects that don't upgrade their server code. |

Using GPUs for number crunching
(Message 44790)
Posted 1 Sep 2012 by Professor Desty Nova Post: Since Climateprediction doesn't use GPUs, they could tweak/update the server code so newer BOINC clients aren't always asking for GPU work like this: 01/09/2012 10:24:48 | climateprediction.net | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 01/09/2012 10:24:48 | climateprediction.net | Requesting new tasks for ATI 01/09/2012 10:24:50 | climateprediction.net | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 01/09/2012 10:24:50 | climateprediction.net | No work sent Some of the projects I run have on the "proprieties of Projects" in the BOINC client, "Project have no apps for ATI GPU", and these don't ask for work for the GPU. |
