Also had two EU with failed downloads. If the problem affects all those 7000 WU...

Also picked one AFR generated today. This week I also picked and finished some "Shorts" that were abandoned by other people :-)

And it seems in the northern hemisphere, ice might be "more sensitive to changes in summer melting than it is to winter cooling".

New measurements from ESAs CryoSat Satellite show that the volume of Arctic sea ice increased following the unusually cool summer of 2013, suggesting that ice in the northern hemisphere is more sensitive to changes in summer melting than it is to winter cooling.

Here we go again...

I'm running a "UK Met Office HadAM3P-HadRM3P Australia New Zealand v6.10" WU, and I just noticed that it seems them trickles are lost somewhere, since 29/30 April.

It seems the server decided to sent sure to fail "No Resubmission" models from November 2014 ( or someone pushed the wrong button :-P ). I just received two, one failed (error: Out Of Memory), the other I aborted, because it has failed on three other people already (also error: Out Of Memory).

I'm guessing, with this mass of errors, that they will have to reissue the batch of WU from last week...

(All the WU that gave me "Error while downloading", have the same result on other two wingman)

It seems like some files got moved or deleted from the servers.

Have at least (for now) two WU with a error like this:

And I've completed another WU that had crashed with
ATM_DYN : INVALID THETA DETECTED on another computer. In both cases they were Intel on win 8.1. I wonder if the difference is Intel vs. AMD or Win 7 vs. Win 8.1...
Would be interesting to know what are the crash frequency between the platforms...

It's this one: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=9164996

I guess I've been lucky with my computers. Most of my crashes are because of power failures (when the batches are not faulty). I now make backups when climateprediction have longer models, that are more susceptible to sudden shut down.

Sorry, too many model crashes! :-(
10:28:25 (3708): called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>[/i]

I hope this is useful information. In the meantime, I am not accepting any more "climateprediction.net" work.

It is useful. Invalid Theta means that there was an internal problem in the WU itself (such as producing an unrealistic climate i.e. the oceans boil off or the Earths surface melts). The good news is that it means there is nothing wrong with your computer and you did nothing wrong while running to cause the crash.

Strangely, I picked up a WU that had crashed with lots of "Model crashed: ATM_DYN : INVALID THETA DETECTED." on another computer, and mine completed it without problem. Luck?
31) Message boards : Number crunching : HadCM3short 7.24 upload problem? (Message 50311)
Posted 25 Sep 2014 by Professor Desty Nova
Post:
The upload server of hadcm3short was "down" for several days. Right now it's working, and receiving uploads, but there must be several thousands of us trying to upload to it. It will take a bit of time to go trough all that backlog, since the zip files have ~63MiB each I think.
32) Message boards : Number crunching : My stats page at BOINCstats/BAM is totally useless. (Message 50151)

You could limit yourself to model types you trust: EU, ANZ, PNW - all fine.

If I'm not mistaken, I'd have to manually cancel the tasks that I don't trust and hope that I'll download one of those that you mentioned, right? I don't see -- and I don't expect -- anything in the project preferences that allow such fine-grained control of model selection.

Go to your account here on climateprediction.net, and click "climateprediction.net preferences", edit them, and on "Run only the selected applications", select the applications you want to run.

On your BOINC Manager Client, click update.

PS: This is not unique to climateprediction. Lots of other BOINC projects let you choose their respective applications when there are more than one.

From the front page, I guess it's the http://www.climateprediction.net/projects/geoengineering/solar-radiation-management/, since it's the one that that uses HadCM3S.

There might be a bug somewhere. Usually the Run time and CPU time are close. On these WU, it's like: Run time(sec) 129,410.12 / CPU time (sec) 66.28! Wow, the CPU only worked 66 seconds!?
This might also explain the low cobblestones awarded...

PPS: Decided to suspend the other WU that was almost finished. One less upload to fail. My other WU end after Monday, so by that time the problem should be solved.
