Many more participants could be recruited given improved clarity in the instructions for installation, starting, and stopping the boinc software. The vast majority of Mac users are just not up to figuring it out for themselves. I suspect it is only the professional techies who will succeed at getting the Mac client running, based on the currently available instructions. Linux afficianados are accustomed to flying without instructions. But that does not excuse the lack of exhaustively clear instructions for every supported platform.
