1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Possibly Optimized Windows model to download for Beta Testers (Message 1536)

After two trickles on both my machines (P4 2.4 and P4 3.0) neither showed any significant change. Both slowed slightly, but this seems to be a general trend as a model progresses. Both are also in the middle of stage one. Maybe the benefits only appear when the model is run from the beginning using the optimized version? I'm reverting to the standard beta; we'll see if things change.

It seems to be down altogether now. It's giving me this error message when I click on the link:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /websites/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/user/forum_help_desk.php on line 47

About the benchmarks...

I ran them 5 times over a few hours period on my laptop. The first time I ran them they were really high (2190 float point, 4400 integer) for a p4 3Ghz laptop, .5GB ram, XP Pro, the next time about half (1400 fp, 2800 i), next (1100 fp, 2600 i), next about normal (1050 fp, 2500 i), and this is where they stayed. The first was run on a cold (literally) computer. The only difference between one and the next was time and temperature. Seems a little odd to vary by such a huge amount. Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the benchmark.

Hi,

I did see that post after I posted. My machine is a stock dell inspiron 5150 laptop: 3Ghz P4 Mobile, 512Mb ram, XP Pro with SP 1, used mainly for work. I didn't defrag over this period, Mcafee security runs in the background, and CPDN classic was running at the beginning (completing phase 4). I can’t discount that it was a calculation error given that these laptops run very hot and I’m sure the CPUs degrade rather quickly (not sure what the core is), but I would still be surprised if this were the case. The model was stopped and started numerous times as I moved my laptop from place to place. Who knows what happened (other than Carl), but that’s what beta testing is for.

Over night the model had an "unrecoverable error". It seems to have occurred near, but not at, the end of phase 1. It does seem to have happened right around the time the model was going to trickle, though I can't tell exactly. This happened on a stock Dell laptop well above the minimum requirements; sleep and suspend modes are off. The result ID is 327. The error code it "exit code -5 (0xfffffffb)".

7) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Parameters for individual runs (Message 129)

Would it be possible in future builds to bring back the ability to see which run parameters are changed from the \"ground\" state? I always found it interesting to see which were changed from run to run, computer to computer. When I looked just now it only supplies the slab ID.
