1) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Connecting too often (Message 10568)

Don't forget besides your boinc preferences, windows has a setting for auto dial up that might be causing this. Also after changing boinc preference right click on project window climatepredition and click update for the preference to become effective.

Try to test Boinc by setting up as run based on preferences instead of run always and vice versa.

Boinc may be trying to fetch the preferences stored in your climate prediction account on the internet.

Internet Windows preferences may be the controlling factor in Run always mode.

Remember where there is a will there is a way......

I have found BOINC does more crunching faster the longer it is between updates.
So I keep tabs on and manually upload my computers that use a modem.

Hope this helps....

I am still looking for the best OS & Crunch Times also, there is one thing you might try if you havn't already. I discovered it while setting my preferences for BOINC. My hard drive access setting was set to once a minute, I changed this to 600 sec (10 MIN)and my numbers jumped 25% on all computers. I just changed to 30 min to see if I get more!
