Well, as if by magic the software suddenly downloaded! Yay! Case closed, happy ending, problem solved.

Geophi, I\'m running the latest version of the BOINC Manager: 5.2.2. The climateprediction.net data in BOINC Manager affirm I\'ve attached to the project; and \"Messages\" confirm communication with the server is \"successful.\" It\'s just that nothing whatsoever happens. Ought not some software download into the relevant folder, at least?

Thank you, Les, for your information! Another thing which bothers me is that, in spite of the fact my obsolete computer entry shows zero credits, I still can\'t get rid of the damned thing. Oh, well: This is, hopefully, nothing for me to worry about further.

First, I tried deleting the obsolete entry of a second (older) computer; and, as you\'ve pointed out here, it apparently can\'t be done. However, I\'m also unable to merge the two computers: When I click on the \"Merge\" function for the obsolete entry, the subsequent page fails to show any computers with which to merge!

What I did do, should it make the slightest difference, was change the obsolete listing from \"Home\" to \"--\" in hopes the system will cater to the machine listed as \"Home.\" That\'s probably silly, but I couldn\'t think of what else to do.

Any help you can render regarding this scenario will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Please forgive this thread start. I became impatient whilst waiting (a very long time) for my previous thread to post; and so I clicked the \"OK\" button a second time. If there\'s a \"Delete\" function here, I\'m sure not finding it. Alas!

I\'ve just re-attached to climateprediction.net and nothing happens, not even the expected software-download. I\'m obviously doing something wrong, but I sure can\'t figure out what it is. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

7) Questions and Answers : Preferences : BOINC screensaver not showing CP team (Message 11342)

This is not a major problem in the over-arching scheme of things, but it's bothersome none the less: I've had to re-join the team Ministry of Silly Walks, here at Climate Prediction, because I'd long since joined that team through SETI yet BOINC projects retain bothersome levels of segregation; and the BOINC screen saver still indicates "none" in the Team field of Climate Prediction's famous non-revolving-globe graphic.

How many days does it take for the Climate Prediction portion of the BOINC screen saver to pick up on the fact I've joined the Ministry of Silly Walks team here? I had hoped running the benchmarks would update such information, but no -- apparently that's not how it's done.

So, just how is it done? Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

10) Questions and Answers : Windows : Win98 & Win ME Support for CPDN/BOINC (Message 3987)

Well, I've uninstalled BOINC for two reasons: One is because I have Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition as my operating system and apart from the fact I've discovered BOINC does a number on my computer I'm not made of money, so I've no plans to help Bill Gates reach his next billion dollars by buying every new bug-filled operating system he cranks out; and the other reason is because compatibility with so-called "old" operating systems isn't something which should be so easily dismissed by organizations wishing to enlist people in a common pursuit. The fact this organization is so willing to buy into BOINC's failure to properly do its homework precludes my continued participation here; but I guess, due to having limited financial resources and thus not the "right" operating system, my help isn't wanted anyway. It's good there are so "few" of us out here, eh?
