Hannah ea,
Thanks for your reply a few weeks ago. This did not yet give any indication on timing. I can imagine that a certain amount of red tape and lack of resources are involved. But are we talking weeks, months?? Can you or any of your colleagues give us an update?
Thanks

I completely agree with Honza, Geophi. Both of you were among the core of the CPDN phpBB community. Since my last post here a week ago I've waited and here little or no response of the CPDN team. This with the loss of the forum, the complete faillure of the CPDN team to put regular updates here or on the website, gives me the feeling that I may deliver power and computing time, but that this 'donation' is not really valued/appreciated. I therefore have uninstalled boinc/cpdn and stopped my contribution (after about 10 model runs)

Carl,
I've noticed the increase as well. However the people behind the project should really be aware that this project differs from the other seti's ea. The time to finish a workunit takes up several weeks on a recent system. Sometimes its not much 'fun', however useful it may be, of doing model after model with average temps of 13-15°C. The main project pages are way too static and are not up to the job of keeping people committed.
I'm glad so many people join in. I only hope they stay in and the project remains viable in the long run. If I were in the project team I would make the marketing of this project one of the cornerstones. This is the nail Graham keeps on hitting, and I believe him right.

Hi Carl,
I don't want to comment on any of the persons involved in the project.
It's just that this forum doesn't have the user friendly touch that the other form has. In the 'good old days' I logged in to the board and picked up the new threads with just a few clicks. But next to that it just delivered that extra touch, it was almost fun to drop in to get the latest from the people hanging around here.
Maybe the same info can be found here, but it lacks overview, features and a pleasant interface.
So if in the end it comes down to just leaving the PC crunching 24/7 however usefull it may be, for the moment I don't see the personal 'return' to continue the (small) investment. As I've said, I'll probably join you again later.

The forum drew me into this project. A few strange enthusiasts even got me involved (just a bit) in the forum. Now the fun/interesting stuff is gone. I'll finish these last two runs over the weekend and move to other projects for a while
Maybe later I'll drop in again. Hope the forum is back on line by then.

Absolutely agree. I wonder what the status of the security issue is. I've been around several other phpBB boards lately without getting a hint of an issue?
